2018 Draft Pick Discussion, Rounds 1-5 [7/5 -- 1st rounder Turang signs]

At least one of these players is going to be available when the Brewers to pick...

Matt Liberatore

Brady Singer

Nolan Gorman

Cole Winn

Brice Turang

Ethan Hankins

Shane McClanahan

That would have seemed unlikely at one point this Spring.

Of course it is also the worst part about the Cardinals and Twins picking right before the Brewers, they are going to get some nice players.

My one rant...if you miss the playoffs, regardless of record, you should pick before all teams that made the playoffs. The Twins should be drafting after the Brewers.

If the Cardinals draft Singer, I will vomit.

Such is the price we pay for being better than them. ;)

Well yes, but the Twins made the playoffs last year and we have to draft behind them... which actually infuriates me about the MLB draft selection ordering.

At least 1 of these will be there for us if math is correct. I do love Naylor (also wanted his brother years ago) & Adams is a special athlete. I’m a sucker for freak athletes.... just watch his posterizing dunks & ability on football field! Smaller but think even better than Harrison from that stand point

Wow, really surprising that both Liberatore and Singer are both there. Figured both to go in top 5 and were almost a lock to be top 10. To think one would slide wouldn't be unreasonable, but both?

Texas is another organization to emulate when it comes to accumulating prospects. They are consistently outstanding. Winn is a great pickup for them.

I hope we can see their successes and learn from it.

Are they? Seems like they are/were extremely good at manipulating the prospect consensus into ranking their prospects very highly, few of whom ever panned out.

Corey Knebel turned out to be a good one! :laughing

I feel like the Red Sox are definitely in that category. Maybe you’re right about Texas too. For years when I’d look at their top 30 lists, they tend to have some good lists. There is the perception that they get on some good upside international kids, but perhaps the worm is turning with the new rules on international signings. That’s a long way of saying that I’m not going to dispute you because I’ve not analyzed it.

Noah Naylor for me. He's an unusually safe HS pick.
