2018-05-26: Mets (Vargas) at Brewers (Anderson) 3:10 PM CDT [Brewers win, 17-6]

Not blaming this on Chase. Blaming it on our GM who acquired another crap catcher and a manager who decided to catch him a day after acquiring said catcher. Bunch of ding dongs running the show as of late.

I mean Chase has been pretty bad all year, velocity is down, strikeouts down, giving up loads of homers.

12 home runs off Anderson in his first 52 1/3 innings. Last year, 14 home runs in 141 1/3 innings. Per Adam McCalvy

Bad? No. Has he been as good as last year? Probably not. Entering the game he still had a high 3 ERA and 1.1 WHIP. Tossing a guy behind the plate that has zero history with him is pretty silly stuff.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I'm not writing off Anderson (or Villar), but right now, they are textbook examples of why if I'm in my 20's and my employer offers me more money guaranteed than my family may ever otherwise see in their entire lifetimes, I'm taking it. Villar didn't. Chase did.

Make that 14 in 54 1/3 innings ...

Maybe Chase should try another change up. Really working out well.

Bad? Yes. His results have been lucky up until this point. The era and whip will continue to rise.

I've seen several games this year where the Brewers pitch/location has been very predictable. For example, last night I could predict where and what pitch was coming and got it right about 50% of the time. That's way too high a percentage and I think other teams are picking up on it. I just tuned in during the top of the 3rd so I didn't see the prior batters, but I was also able to predict 50% of the pitches to Gonzalez, Reyes and Vargas. A hitter who half the time knows where to look for a pitch and what pitch to expect is going to hit balls hard (like out of the park). I think the brewers need to do a better job in pitch selection/location as they may becoming predictable.

Anderson is the pitcher opposing teams love to see this year. Homers flying out of the ballpark. Pitching coach has been very good with everyone, what has happened to Chase.

Shaw’s luck beginning to turn around.

Kratz is my new favorite player. After hearing Brian and Rock tell me all about his 2012 homers, how can he not be?
