No, they're not. They're right.

 

Not excusing it but Knebel probably would've gotten the call if Pina didn't have to reach all the way across the plate. Hardly the first time a call lime that has been missed. Hell, Hernandez missed a pitch earlier in the game that almost cost the D'Backs 3 runs.

 

The thing is he had a mile wide strike zone all night. Anything close on the edges was called up until Hader's 8th. Then in the 9th, nothing.

 

Had he been tight on the corners the entire night it probably would have not been that big of a thing.

This is turning out to be a really fun team this year. If the offense gets the ship righted, it's the type of team that will be able to go on some long runs. They are beating decent to good teams too. Just gotta get things figured out against the Cubs .... or just get out to a big enough lead that their remaining games against Chicago won't matter.

Hernandez knows he's a terrible ump and needs to compensate for it by exercising his Napoleon complex by throwing CC out. As long as there's an umpire's union he will be employed until he retires.
