RHP Nash Walters turns 21 today.

As we posted in the spring:

RHP Nash Walters missed the 2017 season with a right elbow strain, and had Tommy John surgery September 19th. The 2015 3rd round pick out of a Texas high school, had been committed to Texas A&M prior to signing.

Two very nice starts in a row for Ponce. Take away the stinker on May 8th (his first game after a brief stint on the DL) and he's actually had a pretty good season.

Really interesting line for Webb. Six walks and eight K's in 5.1 IP but only throws 88 pitches. Despite the six walks, over 60% of his pitches were strikes. Gets a lot of ground balls too. Hopefully he's *this close* to putting it all together.

Biloxi Box Score

Biloxi bats could not capitalize when needed on Friday, going 0-11 with runners in scoring position. The result was a 3-2 lost to Chattanooga.

On the plus side, Cody Ponce had a nice outing, giving up only one run in six innings of work. Clint Coulter and Troy Stokes Jr. each hit solo HRs - accounting for the Shuckers only runs. Stokes has homered in three straight games.

Batting

Troy Stokes Jr.: 2-3, 2B, HR, BB

Clint Coulter: 1-3, HR

Pitching

Cody Ponce: 6.0 IP, 5 hits, 1 ER, 1BB, 3K

Quintin Torres-Costa: 1.1 IP, 2 hits, 2 ER, 1BB, 3K, lose

Nate Griep: 0.2 IP, 1 hit, 0 ER, 0BB, 0K

Wuilder Rodriguez: 1.0 IP, 2 hits, 0 ER, 1BB, 0K

Notes

Stokes has been on fire of late. In addition to his third HR in as many days, his batting average has climbed from .219 to .237.

Trent Grisham was in the leadoff spot on Friday night (he walked twice but did not get any hits), while Corey Ray was dropped to third in the order.

GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Burlington Bees defeated the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 3-2 on Friday night at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium in the first game of a three-game series. Keiner Pina drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI single in the top of the eighth.

The Rattlers (18-23) took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the third inning. Nick Roscetti started the inning with a double and took third on a wild pitch. Joantgel Segovia drove in Roscetti with a single. Tristen Lutz was next and he tripled to the corner in right to send Segovia home for a 2-0 lead. Lutz would try to score on a slow grounder to third off the bat of Demi Orimoloye, but he was thrown out at the plate. The Rattlers would not threaten to score again.

Burlington (17-21) came back with a run in the top of the third. Torii Hunter tripled with one out and scored on a grounder to short off the bat of Pina.

Jo Adell tied the game for the Bees with a two-out solo home run in the top of the sixth.

Wisconsin starting pitcher Christian Taugner left after six innings. He allowed two runs on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

Burlington took the lead in the top of the eighth inning against reliever Robbie Hitt. Leonardo Rivas doubled to start the inning. Pina singled with one out to score Rivas and the Bees were up 3-2.

Brett Hanewich relieved for the Bees and retired Wisconsin in order in the eighth and ninth innings to close out the win for his second save of the season.

The loss dropped the Timber Rattlers to 4-8 in games decided by one run.

Wisconsin is 4-13, including a 1-7 record at home, against the Bees since the start of the 2017 season.

Game two of the series is Saturday afternoon. Zach Davies will make the start for the Timber Rattlers as part of his rehabilitation assignment for the Milwaukee Brewers. Simon Mathews is scheduled to start for the Bees. Game time is 1:05pm.

Braden Webb 5 1/3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 6 BB, 8 K

Conor Harber 3 1/3 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 3 K

Luke Barker 1/3 IP, Save

Ryan Aguilar 2-5

Keston Hiura 1-4, BB, 2B

Tucker Neuhaus 2-5, 2B

Ronnie Gideon 1-3, 2 BB
