Milwaukee Bucks 2018 - 2019

After the Bucks picked no. 2 overall, they should have looked to absorb a few bad contracts while their financial commitments to core players was low. This would have allowed them to add FRPs. Instead they wrote bad contracts and traded FRPs. Now they are left with few options for improving the team. Classic case of short-termism ... although, they got their arena, so maybe everything is going according to plan.

They did that. That's how they got Dudley. The problem was a year later they traded Dudley for nothing and traded the 1st they got with Dudley for Grievis Vasquez.

Oh, that’s right. They made an uncharacteristically shrewd move and then followed it up with a more predictable one. How could I forget Vasquez’s 23 games in 2015?

We really are a stupid team.

I think what's most interesting is what the Bucks will do over the next couple years. Middleton will get a big fat raise after this season and basically absorb Bledsoe's current salary. But that leaves the team with two stars but not a third, because that money is being wasted on Dellavedova and Henson. So I guess hope Maker gets really good and others step up, or punt more first-round picks to get rid of their expiring contracts. But Giannis is signed through 20/21, so at the point he starts deciding what he'll do (no real contract negotiation since he's an easy SuperMax deal), only Middleton (assuming he's signed) and our last two rookies are signed through then. Even Ilyasova's last year isn't guaranteed. Plus if Giannis were to decide to leave, he'd be declining a $54M fifth-year salary that we could offer and other teams can't.

The new head coach Mike Budenholzer has been fantastic and this team is better than last season with the additions of Lopez and Ersan. I predict this team will win a playoff series and they may even match the 2000-01 team in making the conference finals.

Looks like I will renew my league pass subscription to watch the Bucks, I think they will have a very good season like the Brewers have this year.

I have tickets for the opener at the Fiserv Forum. That would also be game 6 of the NLCS - which I also have tickets for.

I... I don't even know what to do.

Better hope for a sweep, its obvious which one to use and it isn't the basketball game.

I'm all in this year. Bucks for 50+ wins and trip to ECF.

I'm also in this same situation. Had the Bucks tickets since like April....but if the NLCS returns for game 6, I'm almost certainly going to sell the Bucks tickets on StubHub and hope for the best. I'd hate to miss the opener but NLCS game 6 has to trump that IMO.

This team is very hard to predict. Ceiling is Eastern Conf Champs, floor is about what they were last year.

Biggest weakness last year was rebounding and Lopez/Irsan will help with that. Complicated (stupid) defense is gone, so that should be an automatic improvement. On offense, not sure their 3 point % will go up, but they'll definitely make a lot more of them due to increased attempts. That will open up the court for Giannis.

Very curious to see the rotation Coach Bud uses. With Giannis, Lopez, Irsan, Henson, Maker, Wood I would like to see them go big more often. The guard rotation really doesn't impress me, and I would rather have another big on the floor more often.

I’ve been so pumped for the Bucks the last few years but the front office is so dysfunctional that it’s getting hard to be optimistic. I really hope Bud helps them turn the corner but I’m entering the season kind of neutral until I see something different.

They shot 45 threes the first pre-season game. That is something different.

Bucks acquired Jodie Meeks, cash, and a second round pick from the Wizards. Bucks used their trade exception to acquire Meeks and will be waiving him upon completion of the trade. Unsure if the Bucks sent anything in return. Meeks will begin serving a 25 game suspension for violating the league’s anti-drug program once he signs with his new team.

The Bucks already own the Wizards 2nd round pick but it is a protected second round pick so I believe they will just remove the protection and that will become a guaranteed 2nd round pick.

Wow, what a "What's the point?" deal.

Player acquisition in the NBA is so weird. And stupid.
