I have no problem with what Counsell did. He wanted to bring Williams in against the bottom of their lineup. He was going to bring in Logan to face Peralta regardless.

My problem was that Williams is walking 18% of the batters he faces this season and a lead off walk in the 8th inning of a tie game is something they couldn’t afford.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

I agree it was questionable, but it wouldn't be an issue if Logan could occasionally retire a lefty. It is literally by definition his one and only job.

2 outs and he leaves a hanging slider right over the heart of the plate.

I don't blame CC at all for using Logan there. You can't pitch our best 3 relievers every game...especially in mid may. You could argue for using Jennings instead of Logan, but Jennings has had struggles recently as well. Of all the blunders CC makes(like PH Bandy...***?), this one shouldn't be getting this much attention.

Definitely some bullpen moves to question, but it would also be nice to score more than once...

It was Greinke with a 30" wide plate so the runs were tough to come by. Walking the winning run to start the 8th inning could have been avoided.

Yep. Bandy pinch hitting was really baffling to me. Nothing about him says him leading off an inning gives us a good chance to score. Also leaves you vulnerable defensively later in the game. Just odd.

True, but this season has proven that it doesn't take a 30" wide plate for an ace-caliber starter to shut this team down offensively. Can't win 'em all

From the replay, despite what Rock says, I don't think there's any way Shaw gets further than halfway between 1st and 2nd when that ball hits the ground no matter how fast he might have sprinted out of the box.

I thought the same thing. On top of that, probably 5% of players actually sprint that out. It’s just not all that common.

Villar just watches strikes 2 and 3. Jeez. They were good pitches, but the game is on the line and you must protect. So sad we have no better options than Villar. He's just one step above garbage.

Villar has been doing a nice job at seeing a lot of pitches lately. Problem is they’re not leading to enough walks and hits. Either way, you can’t watch strike three there on a fastball. Battle man. Battle..
