2018-05-12: Brewers (Suter) at Rockies (Freeland) 7:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 4-0; Anderson a late scratch (illness)]

At first I thought it might be a good opportunity to get Saladino some at-bats by playing him at third base. But it's likely a case of Counsell just getting sick out of getting near nothing out of the bottom of the lineup (although they were great last night!). Normally it's virtually nothing from the 6th spot in the lineup down. Shaw is only hitting .146/.222/.195/.417 against lefties. So starting him and batting him 5th, then Counsell runs the risk of getting nothing from the 5th spot in the lineup down unless they knock out Freeland early.

Also note that Villar has only hit .150/.190/.200/.390 against lefties. Brewers need offense in case this turns into another slug-fest. Needed to break out all the big-gun righties they could for this one.

I just find it funny, but not so surprising, that the Brewers would opt for Aguilar over Braun at third base.

This is where one instance that I think Braun might be the better choice to play third.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

How quickly baseball replay has devolved into the football strategy, challenges are done based on how good it would be for you for the call to be overturned, not based on how bad the call was or how likely it is to be overturned.

I just don't get why we wouldn't have brought up Peralta who is scheduled to pitch an hour away from us.

My gripe isn't because I don't like Suter. I just don't like him starting. He should be our long man. He's good in spirts.

Boundary calls can only be umpire challenges so it didn't cost us anything.

OK, it was still stupid considering Cain was standing right there and wasn't complaining at all.

Why? They don't burn a challenge. What does it hurt to ask? The replay umps blew a call in Cincinnati the other day on a pickoff play when the Cinci runner was clearly safe, and they called him out. Maybe there's only a 1% chance they call that a GR double instead of a homer, but if you're not burning a challenge, why not ask?
