By Spencer Siegel

Biloxi Box Score

Biloxi Game Log

It was a great night for the regular Biloxi pitchers as well as rehabbing Brewers Corey Knebel and Boone Logan, as they limited Jacksonville to 3 singles and 4 walks. The Shuckers' bats managed 8 hits and 5 walks, but their lone run came via back to back doubles from Houser and Ray. It is worth noting that catcher Stephen Vogt left the game in the 6th after making throws to 2nd and 3rd trying to throw out base stealing Jumbo Shrimp Cade Gotta. Vogt went straight to the clubhouse upon exiting. Shucker Kodi Medieros is scheduled to start tomorrow, going for the sweep.

Biloxi Bottom of the 3rd

Adrian Houser doubles (1) on a line drive to left fielder Cade Gotta.

Corey Ray doubles (10) on a fly ball to center fielder Monte Harrison. Adrian Houser scores.

Troy Stokes Jr. called out on strikes.

Stephen Vogt lines out to left fielder Cade Gotta.

Nick Franklin walks.

Lucas Erceg flies out to center fielder Monte Harrison.

Quick Notes:

Biloxi Batting:

Lucas Erceg 1-3, BB

Jake Gatewood 1-3, BB

Corey Ray 1-4, 2B, RBI

Adrian Houser 1-2, 2B, R

Biloxi Pitching:

Adrian Houser 4 IP, 2H, 2BB, 6K

Wuilder Rodriguez(W 1-1) 2.0, 1H, 1BB, 1K

Boone Logan 1.0, 1BB, 1K

Corey Knebel .2, 1K

Q T-C (S, 2) 1.1, 2K

Carolina 4, Down East 3 (10 innings)

Mudcats Walk-Off In Extras to Win Third Straight

Keston Hiura scored on a wild pitch in the tenth as the Mudcats walked-off the Wood Ducks

cut.jpeg

A good start from Trey Supak. Both runs he gave up came after he left the game. He was one pitch away from getting out of the 7th inning when he walked a man on a very close pitch. Nattino Diplan then gave up a 3 run home run. This is the first time I have seen Alec Crawford pitch. He was signed out of independent ball. He comes from the U. of Minnesota. He has a bit of zip to his fastball with quite a bit of run to it. Also a big curveball which he struggled to control in this game. He made a miraculous escape in the 10th inning from runners on 2nd and 3rd with nobody out. The Wood Ducks pinch ran for the 2nd base runner in the 10th but he failed to score on a double off the wall by the first hitter. Weston Wilson made a pretty good show of maybe catching that ball and played the carom well to hold the man at 3rd. Crawford then struck out the next two hitters and retired the next man to escape the inning and get the win.

Keston Hiura is starting to take right handers to right field a bit more. He had been trying to pull quite a bit when he was going bad. It looks like he has figured that out now and is really taking off.

Trey Supak 6 2/3 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 3 K

Nattino Diplan 1 1/3 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 0 K

Alec Crawford 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K

Keston Hiura 3-5, 2 2B

Carolina Box Score

Carolina Game Log

Down East Top of the 10th

Charles Leblanc starts inning at 2nd base.

Offensive Substitution: Pinch-runner Blaine Prescott replaces Charles Leblanc.

Andretty Cordero doubles (8) on a line drive to left fielder Weston Wilson. Blaine Prescott to 3rd.

Josh Altmann strikes out swinging.

Matt Whatley strikes out swinging.

Franklin Rollin grounds out, first baseman Ronnie Gideon to pitcher Alec Crawford.

Carolina Bottom of the 10th

Keston Hiura starts inning at 2nd base.

Blaine Prescott remains in the game as the designated hitter.

Tucker Neuhaus flies out to right fielder Franklin Rollin. Keston Hiura to 3rd.

Dallas Carroll strikes out swinging.

With Ronnie Gideon batting, wild pitch by Locke St. John, Keston Hiura scores.

Manager Rick Sweet

Farm Director Tom Flanagan

Flanagan confirms that veteran infielder Andres Blanco is slated for nasal surgery after taking that bad hop earlier this week, also discusses what you tell guys who are crushing it like Nate Orf and Kyle Wren who remain seemingly blocked from the big show for now. Brandon Woodruff, Bubba Derby and others also discussed.

DUBON, ORF KEEP STREAKS ALIVE IN 4-1 LOSS TO DODGERS

Despite the loss, always a worthwhile read of not just the game summary, but other miscellaneous notes.

Box Score / Game Log

This road trip has four games in OKC, then four in Nashville, thus far only one run in each of the first two games away from the Springs. A majority of Sky Sox road games are in neutral or even offense-suppressing sites, including New Orleans, Omaha, Iowa, and Memphis. If the Brewers do land in Fresno for AAA next year, while that home locale isn't horrid, the road games will be peppered with high-octane sites like Reno, El Paso, Albuquerque, and Las Vegas.
