AUDIO via the Sky Sox Soundcloud: "Dan Karcher sits down with Milwaukee Brewers general manager David Stearns in part one of a two-part interview"

***

Here is Part Two.

In Part Two of the interview, Stearns indicates infielder Andres Blanco's DL stint is because he took a ball to the face while on defense. Ouch.

From Monday's 9th inning:

Nashville Top of the 9th

Steve Lombardozzi Jr. grounds out, second baseman Shane Opitz to first baseman Ji-Man Choi.

Dustin Fowler singles on a sharp line drive to third baseman Andres Blanco.

Defensive Substitution: Mauricio Dubon replaces third baseman Andres Blanco, batting 7th, playing second base.

If you have an MiLB.TV subscription, you can go to Monday 4/30's archive and go to the 03:37:40 hour/minute mark.

Game log said line drive, but apparently is a one-hopper (off the bat of a LH-batter), camera angle didn't quite catch it.

Blanco sprawled to his stomach initially after being struck, he then was able to sit up when aided by the training staff. Within 90 seconds, he was walking off under his own power, holding a towel in the area of his left eye and nose. (Hopefully it was more a "nose issue").

I don't trust anyone's numbers at Colorado Springs. It's pointless. Can't wait to get out of there.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Biloxi Box Score

Thomas Jankins three 6.1 innings of shutout ball to lead the Biloxi Shuckers to a 2-1 victory over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. Jankins was outstanding on Wednesday night, giving up only three hits and a pair of walks while recording his fifth victory of the season.

Nate Griep made things interesting in the 9th, giving up a hit and three walks - plus a run. He would load the bases with one out, but would get the final two batters on fly outs - preserving the win.

Stephen Vogt hit a home run in his first rehab game. Boone Logan - also in Biloxi on rehab - threw a perfect frame in the win.

Batting

Stephen Vogt: 1-2, HR

Jake Gatewood: 1-3, 2B

Blake Allemand: 1-3

Jake Hager: 1-3

Dylan Moore: 2-3

Pitching

Thomas Jankins: 6.1 IP, 3 hits, 0 ER, 2BB, 4K, Win

Wisconsin Box Score

Haven't talked about Demi Orimoloye much, but he's slashing a cool .293/.362/.488. Just 6 for 9 in stolen bases though, and since that's a big part of his value let's hope he gets on a roll with those as well.

Miguel Sanchez 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K

Miguel Sanchez is interesting. He can generate late movement on all three of his pitches - fastball, curveball, changeup. He also throws a slower curveball that has more of a traditional hump on the way to the plate. For some reason he likes to work his fastball high despite late dip, and he tends to spike his curveball. I think his changeup might be his best pitch with its good late armside fade. If he can get FB and CB command ironed out, he's a pretty decent relief prospect.

I thought Sanchez looked good the first time I saw him. Then there was one outing where he gave up three tape measure home runs in something like 4 batters. He needs to keep his pitches down unless they are convinced the hitter will be surprised by a high strike.
