If the brewers get manny, this gonna be a fun summer.

Cain

Yelich

Machado

Aguilar/Thames

Shaw

Braun/Thames

Nottingham

Villar

Best offense in the NL?

If you consider that Miller would get plenty of starts at second, then it would be close.

I am really leery of giving too much away for 2-3 months of a guy we have no chance to keep. If we could get him for something like Woodruff, Ortiz and Santana or Phillips, then okay, but I doubt that gets it done.

That's a sexy line up. Come to papa. Especially when you have Saladino and Miller to plug in for Villar as needed.

Also, for the record, I would absolutely be okay if Woodruff is the most valuable piece we trade away to rent Machado.

I like Woodruff and think we'd be selling low on him, but done and done. The leap forward our offense would take with Machado is seriously insane. SS would go from batting 7th or 8th to 3rd consistently.

If the orioles are on record saying they want mlb ready pieces, we have an advantage over pretty much everyone with the mlb ready pieces we have in AAA. This has been noted by others, but I couldn't agree more.

All that said, I still don't htink we get him. I don't fully buy that we are in the lead to get him. I hope we can get him at a reasonable price, I just don't see it.

Thames

Miller

Yikes. That would definitely be the best 1-7 we've had since 2008, if not longer.

That lineup should be in the brewers optimism thread...that's a WS caliber lineup right there. If I'm going straight optimism though, find a way to get Realmuto as well. Cain/Yelich/Machado/Shaw/Aguilar/Thames/Realmuto/Miller. Occasionally substitute Braun for Thames and Villar for Miller. A guy can dream right?

From Ken Rosenthal:

#Dodgers, #Brewers most serious for #Orioles’ Machado, sources tell The Athletic. #Indians also in mix, though taking on rest of Machado’s $16M might be obstacle. Question remains: Will O’s ownership view offers practically or slow down process by asking for other players?

From Jon Heyman:

Brewers are in on Manny Machado. @Ken_Rosenthal suggested dodgers & brewers may be in lead. (but of course situation is fluid, and there is plenty of interest). here's our story from a few days ago on the brewers' interest and need.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

16 million is no pocket change but I’d eat as much of that as possible to reduce price on prospects. If we don’t lose Burns, Hiura, or Peralta... hard to complain about any outcome of the trade

I’m going to be honest , it’s beautiful seeing us even in National rumors as in play for top talent going into the deadline . Love this feeling.

I've seen plenty of rumors that last couple of deadlines involving the Brewers. I'll be impressed if they actually pull this particular one off.

I don't recall being listed as 'one of the favorites' or the 'most serious' last year, but I could be mistaken.

Machado is playing for Baltimore today, so chances are no need for a hugwatch today.

Maybe he will cry like Wilmer and no trade .. this giving us Realmuto instead... Machado gets hurt.. we end up making the right trade...

You never know?!!!!

OK, but to be "in play for" was the term used, not "favorite for". I have seen plenty of rumors the last couple of deadlines claiming the Brewers were "in play for". Having said that, my reaction stays the same.

Ok, how about 'a favorite for?'

No idea what point you are trying to make. The Brewers may well be a primary contender for Machado. I'll still be impressed if they pull it off. None of that has anything to do with the comment I replied to.

The point is, you're claiming that the Brewers have been listed in these deals before during the 'past couple of deadlines,' but there seems to be more smoke here than typical. I'm not sure it's completely fair to dismiss it as just another rumor, when the Brewers are being listed as 'one of the favorites' at this point.

Doesn't mean we get him (like with Quintana), but it's not some dude claiming that we're in on Cobb....

But I'm not doing that. I totally believe they are in the running for Machado just like I totally believe they were in the running for Quintana last year. I will still be impressed if we end up with Machado.

Does anyone think Orioles would take flier on Santana? Outside of Jones who they may also move, their OF is not good & little depth. You buy Santana who is still young & hope he regains 2017 form. Santana, Phillips, Ray, Taylor, Stokes all seem like logical guys who are close to MLB ready who could help them.

Santana, Woodruff, Stokes for Machado.... eat some of the contract
