Lara has 4 hits tonight......TRats up 15-4.

He has equaled the number of doubles he hit all of last year.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Bullpen Collapse Gives Way to 9-8 Loss in Kinston

The Mudcats lost a 8-4 lead in the ninth while losing 9-8 to the Wood Ducks

cut.jpg

The Wood Duck bullpen blanked the Mudcats over the final 6 innings while the Mudcat bullpen couldn't hold a 4 run lead in the 9th. Chase Williams has had spotty command all year and it cost him here. He gave up 3 walks and 4 hits before giving way to Alec Kenilvort, who gave up the final two hits while retiring nobody. Braden Webb could not get out of the 2nd inning. A grand slam by Ryan Aguilar had seemingly put the game under control in the 2nd inning.

Braden Webb 1 2/3 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 K

Miguel Sanchez 4 1/3 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K

Alec Crawford 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K

Ryan Aguilar 2-4, HR

Keston Hiura 2-5, SB

Tucker Neuhaus 2-5, 2B, HR

Box Score / Game Log

Jacob Nottingham's small 36 AAA at-bat sample is at 1.021 OPS. He was the DH in this one.

A feel-good night (minus the eventual team loss) for Tim Dillard, what a line.

Mauricio Dubon, having started 17 games at shortstop, made only his second 2018 start at second base Friday night. Correlation to the events at Wrigley today, Mr. Sogard? Dubon committed a throwing error, his 6th error overall.
