If Alexander is the guy they wanted all along I like the method they used to get him.

Well at least I got my morning prediction right. Not real fond of trading back up for Alexander. If CB was the target then I would have just sat until #27 and taken whatever fell. If there would have happened to be a run on all the corners then I probably would have just gone OL.

I really like Alexander's skill set but am worried he missed so much time last year. Just not a big fan of hurt guys. But no question the Packers needed a CB in the absolute worst way. Hopefully King's shoulder problems are behind him and King and Alexander will form a good CB duo.

I do remember an article right after they hired Pettine that he likes having a tall CB on one side and a short/fast CB on the other. Assuming that helps with match-ups. So this makes sense in that light.

So... trade up into the first again?

Also fits the mold of Green Bay culture checking off the injury history box requirement.

Broken hand is a little different than chronic soft tissue injuries. But haha

Knee, broken hand, dings, small. I'm not a Jaire Alexander guru but small guys like him get beat up. Joe Haden says hi.

League is trending towards smaller slot receivers. Smallish corner is no big deal as long as he's fast and this dude is fast.

Alexander is 5-10 1/4. I don't think anyone would argue that the two best CBs the Packers have had in the last 10 years were Tramon Williams and Sam Shields. Both listed at 5-11, but I doubt either of them were even a 1/4" taller than Alexander (who will probably also be listed at 5-11).

I was hoping one of Tremaine Edmunds, Roquan Smith, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Denzel Ward or Derwin James would drop to Green Bay.

I think it played out pretty amazing - we had two of those guys available. And then the trade(s) happened. I'm okay with Jaire Alexander, however, if the Packers moved back thinking they could still get Edmunds or James at #18 - then they got too cute.

Ultimately, if they club really wanted Alexander - then we did great. They are saying he was the guy they wanted all along - and if that's true - then great. Adding the extra #1 next year is sweet.

I had predicted D.J. Chark at #45 this morning and see no reason to get off that. If anything, the Alexander pick may indicate that Gutekunst is going to place a big emphasis on speed and Chark definitely checks that box.

Definitely need a speed upgrade on both sides of the ball, and Alexander definitely fits the bill. Chark would be a solid fit as an outside burner that could open up the underneath routes for Adams, Cobb and Graham. Plus, with Chark's speed and Alexander's punt return ability, it would allow them to cut bait with useless Trevor Davis.
