Thames to DL.....Woodruff recalled from AAA

markedman5
Santana is having a hard enough time finding playing time. The last thing he needs is thames thrown into the mix.

Objective isn't to find ABs for Santana. He can solve that himself if he starts hitting better. It's about winning games, and if Thames and Aguilar are both hitting, they need to play.

Makes perfect sense that Woodruff pitches today and then is sent back down for Thames. We don’t need a 5th until June 20th.

If they want to get Santana at bats, they can send him down for someone else I suppose.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

So Woodruff won't be the 5th starter on the 19th, unless someone gets hurt. Does Peralta get another shot?

I wonder if they will consider giving Houser a spot start? He's been pitching well in Colorado Springs, and getting stretched out again as a starter. I would imagine he could give them 5 innings/80 pitches, which seems to be about the norm Counsell is looking for out of the starters.

That is very possible. I don't think they would have him starting in CS if they weren't planning on using him as a starter in Milwaukee at some point.

They have 3 choices for the 19th, Peralta, Houser or Wilkerson. Peralta pitched Sunday the 10th and he's in good form. Wilkerson's building his innings and was sharp in his last couple starts. Houser has gone past 4 innings just once and with the recent implosions in pen, he might be more valuable there.
