Tyler Saladino a Brewer [7/5 -- back from injury & in the starting lineup]

Saladino is fine. The few errors/misplays he's made recently have mostly on on balls with 100+ mph exit velocities. Yes he needs to make more of those plays than he has in the past few games, but this is recency bias. He has mostly been fine at SS and is the best SS currently on the roster.

Not to mention he has a 118 wRC+ with the Brewers. Some of that was due to the hot start, but still has a very respectable 91 wRC+ since coming off the DL (264/350/340).

He's given the Brewers a little more flexibility to look at guys who are primarily second basemen instead of some one who needs to cover ss as well.

Hey I'm in with him as well as he's shown competency at hitting and that is desperately needed. Combine that with the scouting reports and past history on D and you just have to trust this is small sample and will go away. Think back to the first couple weeks as the team made a ton of errors and then quickly rebounded to good D. But to say a guy with 7 errors in 23 games has mostly been fine is just blatantly false. That would be a pace of roughly 50 for the season if he played every day. And I remember a game in which he botched 2 plays that didn't even count as errors, and of course a few more too. He has been bad, no way around it. Doesn't mean he isn't capable of doing better or that we have a better option, but guy has to clean it up already. The butterflies should be gone after this long.

One eye test thing that I would say doesn't pass the 'hes a great defender' reports on him is his arm. Seems to float a lot over there, maybe it's more of an accuracy thing when he doesn't need to gas it, IDK. But he's thrown some lobs over there.

given that tyler saladino is likely lost for the season from an injury sustained while on optional assignment, it's very likely that he will be designated for assignment before 31 august to make room on the 40-man roster for another player.

the brewers could opt to recall saladino and then place him on the 60-day injured list in order to open up a spot on the 40-man, but in doing so, he would accrue major league pay and service time.

given that he, hernan perez and cory spangenberg are all out of options in 2020, it's quite likely that saladino's days in the brewers organization are coming to an end.
