Village is versatile all right. He can't field multiple positions.

It takes a village to raise a 2nd baseman

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

I just love that someone was on base for once. Thames hit a crazy amount of solo home runs last year and given only 11 RBIs to go with his 7 HRs this year ... it is nice to have someone along for the ride this time.

Good job Eric!

I checked and 4 of his now 7 HRs this early season have had a man on.

Now if we could only get TWO men on for him...

I didn't bother looking ... I just assumed he had gotten at least 1 RBI this year that wasn't via a HR ... but I guess not!

This baseball game seems to really be inconveniencing Domingo.

Wonder if Counsell noticed the same thing? He just got yanked. I would understand if it was for defensive purposes, but is Hernan really that much better defensively? Also, so much for Lorenzo's day off.

I missed it, can someone fill me in? What happened?

Domingo looked lost in his at-bat in the bottom of the 7th, which really isn't anything new. He almost looked lethargic up there, though, which is surprising, because I have never doubted his effort.

Despite my bashing him, I really hope he figures it out soon, because his missing bat in the middle of this lineup is really hurting. Hopefully he just hasn't gone a hot streak yet.

Oh the irony that Villar would have gotten to the ground ball that he just put by Scooter!

Had the same thought myself.

Villar should be having a great day 2 for 3 with a walk but will have to settle for 2 for 4 and a middle finger to the home plate umpire.

I do not understand why the Reds are paying so much attention to Villar on 1st base right now. This goes for all teams. They keep throwing over, pitching out. There's two outs, your only focus should be on the batter and getting the final out. Even with all the attention they're paying to him, he just stole a base anyways.

And now a stolen base. The man does it all (except field routine ground balls I guess).
