AUDIO via Matt Pauley's Brewers Extra Innings Podcast Sun. 4/15: "The Brewers continue to go through life without Corey Knebel and getting those final three outs has been an issue at times. What can the team do to start converting more 9th inning opportunities? Matt Pauley gives his take on the situation.

Brewers fans are once again keeping a close eye on their Triple-A team in Colorado Springs. With players like Keon Broxton, Brett Phillips and Brandon Woodruff, who have already performed well in the big leagues all playing for the Sky Sox, the Brewers have a great group ready when needed. Plus young pitching prospects Freddy Peralta and Corbin Burnes are both knocking on the MLB door. Sky Sox broadcaster Dan Karcher joins Matt to provide insight into the Triple-A squad."

Go the 14:20 minute mark for the Sky Sox chat.

Corey Ray

2 for 2

With a double and his 3rd triple.

He has been a lot of fun to follow this early part of the season.

Interesting article about Ray's adjustments at the plate in 2018:

He started out the 1st 4 games 4-18 with 10 Ks 2 BB

Last 7 games 13-29 1bb 2 ks

Streaks are streaks but something has seemed to click & he is seeing the ball very well! Ray, Stokes, Erceg at the top of order has been nightmare for pitchers as of late!

Proud member since 2003 (geez ha I was 14 then)

FORMERLY BrewCrewWS2008 and YoungGeezy don't even remember other names used

Final: Biloxi 5, Mobile 1

Biloxi Box Score

Biloxi got some strong pitching from Cody Ponce and Nick Ramirez, while the team pounded out 13 hits in a 5-1 win over the Mobile BayBears.

Ponce, Ramirez and John Olczak combined to hold the BayBears to just one run. At the plate, Corey Ray, Troy Stokes Jr. and Jake Hager each had three hits. Biloxi missed out on several opportunities to add additional runs by going just 2-15 with runners in scoring position.

Batting

Corey Ray: 3-5, 2B, 3B

Troy Stokes Jr.: 3-4, 2 2B, 3B

Jake Hager: 3-4, 2B, HR, 2 RBI

Blake Allemand: 1-4, HR

Pitching

Cody Ponce: 5.2 IP, 4 hits, 1 ER, 3BB, 5K, Win

Nick Ramirez: 2.1 IP, 2 hits, 0 runs, 0BB, 2K

John Olczak: 1.0 IP, 2 hits, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2K

Notes

Troy Stokes Jr. has enjoyed a strong 2018. After his three hit game tonight, his batting average is at .333. And while Stokes Jr. strikes out quite a bit (15k in 11 games), he takes his share of walks (9 so far - which is enough to be tied for the lead in the Southern League) which gives him a robust .480 OBP.

Ray's triple to lead off the game was his third of year, which leads the Southern League.

Biloxi Log

Biloxi scored one run in five different innings.

Wilmington 5, Carolina 1

Mudcats Drop Series Opener 5-1 in Wilmington

Marcos Diplan walked five and took the loss in Monday's series opener in Wilmington

Marcos Diplan with a poor outing and the bats couldn't move enough players around the bases to compensate. Robie Rojas went to Colorado Springs to replace Jacob Nottingham, who was called up to the Brewers. Cooper Hummel is still around as the backup. I highly doubt we will see Clint Coulter back behind the plate. Rob Henry was activated in Carolina to take Rojas' spot on the roster.

Marcos Diplan 2 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 5 BB, 2 K

Conor Harber 4 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 6 K

Miguel Sanchez 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K

Keston Hiura 3-5

Clint Coulter 1-1, 2B, 2 BB

Ronnie Gideon 1-5, 2B
