This umpire is going to get his report card after this game and schedule an appointment with his eye doctor.

MLB umpires are unionized and basically untouchable for poor job performance, that's the sad thing. There is absolutely no accountability for bad umpires. CB Bucknor and Joe West are living proof of that.

They get their little report card, probably trash it, and go out and do it again the next day. There's no fines, no suspensions, no discipline for umpires who suck at their job.

Hader has recorded 26 outs this season for the Brewers with 20 of them being strikeouts. Unreal.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Sogard with a long foul ball that will be enough to keep him around a few more weeks...

Hader is filthy, I would pay a lot to stand in a batters box and see what that looks like in person.

Not me. If need a new pair of shorts.

Hader is the best pitcher on the brewers. This seems like such a waste bringing him in for one inning in a three run game.

No it's not..'..he's had 2 days off....we need this win with a loss probably coming tomorrow....

3 runs can go in a hurry......as we have seen.

Maybe they let him finish.....which would be ok too

Umps just get worse every year.

I'm not saying any schlub could do it, but NFL referees need to watch 22 guys at one time. You basically need to see one thing. Is it really that hard?

Umpires today are way better than umpires of a decade or two ago. Seriously, six inches off the plate used to be called all the time.

I’m not too concerned yet about Anderson to start the season. Before his first start of the year, he was extremely sick and was not sure if he would pitch opening day. He also had his awkward slide in the first game of the season where he may have hurt his shoulder and possibly dealt with concussion symptoms the rest of that start and leading up to his second start. Anderson himself admitted to “might have momentarily blacked out” after hitting his head. For the game tonight, it is chilly in New York, especially factoring in the strong winds they are playing through.

It could take Anderson a few weeks to get to where he needs to after being sick to start the season, possibly getting a concussion, and pitching in the cold weather. Once it is in the 70’s every game, I am sure he will be back to where he was last season.

I may be wrong but I also believe the velocity didn't come until May or so last year.

He did improve his velocity as the season progressed last year, but his four-seamer is averaging one mph slower this April as compared to last April (92.97 mph in April 2017 vs. 92.03 mph in April 2018).

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Yeah it’s crazy. Just automate the zone already. You still need a himplate umpire to announce the ball/strike call, make safe/out calls at the plate and other things. It’s not like they are going to lose jobs.

I saw am interview once where the ump basically said he doesn't care what the league says to him. He knows what he calls is correct. I wanna say it was Joe West or something.

Yes, it's easier to be a fan when your team is 11-1, but gotta say, developing a lot of respect for Mets fans in this series. Jay Bruce catches a fly ball in the top of the 9th with the Mets losing 5-1 and all you hear a loud "Bruuuuuuuuuce" throughout the stadium. Then the bottom of the 9th starts and lots of "Let's go Mets" chants going on.

User in-game thread post in 1st inning of 3rd game of the 2022 season: "This team stinks"

Haha, Bandy on TV putting a huge dip in. Isn't that illegal now in MLB?

Bandy would be grandfathered in and not subject to the league policy. Might be banned at Citi field though.

What? So you can be exempt from an MLB policy?

Oh Hader only struck out 5 of his 6 batters.
