2018-04-14: Brewers (Anderson) at Mets (Harvey) 6:10 PM CDT [Brewers win, 5-1]

Eye Black
Pitch one to Gonzalez from Chase has been called a strike for Harvey. BS.

They have the technology to replace these incompetent egomaniacs and I don't know why anyone is still against it.

Either go to an electronic zone or get a lot better umpiring. The umpiring still sucks every single year so just go to the damn e-zone.

Pitch 2 or 3 to Villar clearly a strike, but since Lobaton had to reach for it...it's a ball.

On the bright side, I think we can take comfort in the fact that Braun clearly used PED's to try to recover from injury rather than just trying to juice and hit mammoth dingers.

You could also theorize that his deterioration in his early to mid 30s stems from chronic use since his Miami Hurricane days. Truthfully we will never know for sure.

Those PEDs added to his power, don't kid yourself. May not have been his primary reason, but it was part of it as well. That in no way makes it a "bright side" in any way shape or form for me.

You could take comfort in that if it were true. He, and every other professional athlete, took PEDs to be better at sports. The injury recovery excuse is bull and there isn’t scientific evidence to support it.

Back tightness for Braun.......no big deal in all likelihood

We have no idea if it will be a big deal. Chronic injuries have sapped his effectiveness the last couple seasons. It doesn't have to keep him out of the lineup to be a big deal if it keeps him from being fully effective.

I’m not too concerned yet about Anderson to start the season. Before his first start of the year, he was extremely sick and was not sure if he would pitch opening day. He also had his awkward slide in the first game of the season where he may have hurt his shoulder and possibly dealt with concussion symptoms the rest of that start and leading up to his second start. Anderson himself admitted to “might have momentarily blacked out” after hitting his head. For the game tonight, it is chilly in New York, especially factoring in the strong winds they are playing through.

It could take Anderson a few weeks to get to where he needs to after being sick to start the season, possibly getting a concussion, and pitching in the cold weather. Once it is in the 70’s every game, I am sure he will be back to where he was last season.

This is a horrendously early hook

Yesterday aside, an early hook seems to be a team design. Deep and good pen designed to eat up innings at the back end of games.

But yeah I probably would have let Anderson try to get through the 7th until a man reached. Chase is cruising today and yesterday Davies is struggling and Counsell tries to push him as far as he can. Cost us the game in part.

I may be wrong but I also believe the velocity didn't come until May or so last year.

It makes 0 sense to allow a struggling pitcher to go 100+ pitches one day and then to pull your best pitcher at 80+ pitches another day while he's cruising. Why even have starting pitchers start the game if they're never allowed to go 7 innings? Why not just have a reliever pitch the first two innings, starter goes 6 and then closer finishes it off?
