Guys.....I think I'm going to sound like a broken record by the end of the year, but Josh Hader is our best pitcher and it's not even close.

His fastball was pretty damn hard to hit last year, but with his offspeed stuff getting better and more often used this year, his fastball has become essentially unhittable.

That's why as much as I love him in the pen, I want to eventually see him in the rotation. True Ace potential.

Hader is just too fun to watch pitch. So happy he is a Brewer. That trade... that trade.

I think Jeffress should come out and close this one out. He is one of our best pitchers.

I agree.

You're right, as far as I can tell he's actually been pretty shockingly consistent. He'll give you an inch off the plate either way but the bottom of the zone has been a ball all day (Jennings got one call there in the 7th but that was on a breaking pitch).

Santana's numbers starting to look pretty nice.....

I do agree Joey that if Hader's offspeed stuff is finally working for him and that change-up is something he's confident using now against righties, I think he might be wasted in the bullpen even if he's pitching in 80 games a year.

Chris Sale had a couple years in the pen before they finally bumped him up. I doubt there will be a need for him this year with Nelson/Burnes/Peralta/Woodruff all ready to step in, but maybe they stretch him next spring? If he keeps pitching like this all year, I don't see how you could keep him in the bullpen.

Is Jeffress available today? He pitched the last two games if I remember correctly and can't remember but might've gone more than an inning in at least one of those games.

I just posted that because of his 2018 Bullpen comments. He didn't actually say it. Just wanted to play with him a bit! :laughing

But yeah, Jeffress isn't coming in this game.

Probably a dinger but if it takes this long, tough... play ball.

Can we just give the Cards an "intentional win" and go home? I'm starting to feel jaded about bleeding away late inning leads.

Sliders have to be closer than this if you want a swing and miss. Can't miss three feet wide and low and expect a swing.
