Braun- When do you DFA?

FVBrewerFan
I hope he stays healthy and continues hitting bombs for another 2 months.

Then I hope the Dodgers get excited, jump on him and give us more than we ever thought possible a week ago.

Is anyone in the Dodgers front office a life-long Brewer fan? Because you kind of have to be to want Braun and his contract at this point.

Braun for Kershaw :)
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Trading him probably means we aren’t in the mix this season.

Why not? I mean, everyone wanted to trade Santana a month ago, that was the whole plan many of us thought, to clear up the logjam. The only reason we were talking Santana and not Braun is because Braun is much less tradeable. We are pretty well covered at both 1st and the OF.

We know Braun's bat is for real, but so are his injuries. There will be stretches this year where we are excited about what he's doing and there will be stretches this year when it's a burden to have him because injuries have made him either ineffective or unavailable. Right now we're in the middle of one of those first stretches.

If he can have a very healthy stretch (because we do know that's only temporary), sell the Dodgers on him, pull the trigger on a high point for him, gain roster flexibility, financial flexibility, and useful pieces(s), I don't see that as a bad thing or something that should preclude us from contending.

Just don’t think it’s realistic to think if the Brewers are contenders that they’ll move Braun. Feel it’s more wishful thinking on your part. After season if he’s put together a nice season, I’d believe that a lot more.

And right now, I like the luxury we have with our top five on any given game day. Could pay dividends over the course of a season.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

That's where I'm at. I like having so many good players that one or two going down doesn't effect the team very much. Especially considering there is always one or two players hurt.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.
