2018-04-08: Cubs (Quintana) at Brewers (Anderson) 1:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 3-0]

Eye Black

Today, the Cubs TV announcers referred to Brewer fans as overreacting and in panic mode relative to the play of the team this week. They mentioned how even keeled CC is and his calm demeanor in the Press Conf stating that the staff will address the issues and move on.

I understand it is a long season and it is easy for the opposing team's announcer team to downplay opposing team fan reaction, but there are so many examples of lack of focus and discipline. Today, examples of lack of hustle - really disappointing. For this team, with the level of expectations, to open up at home this week and put on a poor display of fundamental baseball is alarming.

Even in San Diego there were situations in the field and base paths that were not up to major league level. Arcia not getting a jump from third on a ball in play that he should have scored, outfielders throwing to wrong base. It seems like we have witnessed some extremes - hero ball attempts to make plays that are errors in judgement; plays that show lack of discipline and awareness of situations; and today lack of hustle. Then, add to the fact that we don't have our best starter (arguably), our closer, and now our best player in Yelich- it seems we have a perfect mess of a storm.

Just venting some concern; hopefully lots of good baseball to witness here in the days to come.
