RHP Marcos Diplan recalled to the Brewers' active roster from Biloxi, though that's just a procedural move for the winter.

In addition to being signed to a one-year contract extension, RHP Preston Gainey has been activated off of Biloxi's 60-day DL. Not-actually-a-player-anymore Jim Henderson also activated off of Biloxi's 60-day DL. Henderson is now a coach in the AZL for the Brewers and will become a minor league free agent soon anyway.

1B Jake Gatewood and RHP Conor Harber activated off of Biloxi's 7-day DL.

RHP Tyler Spurlin activated off of Biloxi's Restricted List.

RHP Devin Williams has been activated off of Carolina's DL and promoted to Colorado Springs San Antonio. RHP Alec Asher, temporarily transferred to Carolina toward the end of the season, has been transferred back to the AAA roster though he's due to become a FA after the end of the World Series anyway.

RHP Danny Reynolds activated off of Biloxi's 7-day DL and promoted to San Antonio.

RHP Michael Brady, RHP Erik Davis, RHP Tim Dillard, SS Mauricio Dubon, INF Jake Hager, C Charlie Meyer, and INF Shane Opitz have been reinstated from the AAA 7-day DL. C Dustin Houle and RHP Aaron Wilkerson have been activated from the AAA Temp Inactive List. Dubon, Wilkerson, and RHP Adrian Houser have been moved to Milwaukee's active roster in procedural moves. Except for Meyer, the rest are due to become free agents.

Actually, 21 of the 28 players currently on the AAA roster are due to become free agents.

More international signings for Milwaukee, all RHPs, all signed to 2019 contracts:

Yohandry Perez

Rafael Camacho

Ronnald Rojas

Edwin Jimenez

Perez turns 22 in November, so he's an advanced-age signing to be sure. The Dominican is listed at 6'1", 197.

Remember, RHP Miguel Sanchez was even older when signed in January 2016, and he's pitching in the Arizona Fall League now.

From mid-August:

RHP's Junior Montero and Rafael Garcia were signed as international free agents to 2019 contracts.

Montero just turned 20 in September, is Dominican, and listed at 6'3", 175.

Garcia is a 17-year-old from Panama, listed at 6'1", 158.

Pitcher Oscar Castaneda was signed as an international free agent to a 2019 contract.

I added in mid-August:

Castaneda works out of an independent training academy in Mexico, and similar to MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez' tweet about RHP Mario Perez back on July 4th, Castaneda has no formal affiliation with the professional Mexican League, and thus was eligible for the Crew to sign. MLB has placed a moratorium on signing professional Mexican League players while improprieties in that system are worked out.

Here's Castaneda, you can follow (and translate) the Twitter thread above and below this link.

Is this a relative of Helena Brewers RHP Victor Castaneda? Victor was one of the last Mexican League players signed by MLB when the Crew purchased his contract last summer.

UPDATE:

We now know Castaneda is 5'11", 2015, he was born in a different Mexican city and is nearly three years younger that Victor, having turned 17 in May.

RHP Hiram Burgos, who spent the year on Colorado Springs' 60-day DL and worked as a coach in the minor leagues, has been released. I assume that just means from his roster spot and that he will remain on as a coach.

The Brewers have also released RHP Jim Henderson and catchers Fidel Pena and Natanael Mejia. Same as with Burgos, the trio were on player contracts but served as coaches. Hopefully, they did good work and will be brought back as full-time coaches.

Now have vitals on --

RHP Mario Perez, out of Mexico, turned 16 last April, listed at 5'11", 148

DhSmR2uUEAAvDT0.jpg

From MLB.com in July:

Mario Perez and the Mexican market

Major League Baseball and Mexican League Baseball are working on a player transfer system, and until a practice is agreed upon, all players with an affiliation to Mexican League teams, including those eligible to sign during the international signing period, cannot sign a contract with a Major League team. So far this period, Mario Perez, a right-handed pitcher who trains with the Gonzalez Sports Academy and signed with the Brewers for $337,000, is the only notable signing from the country. The Gonzalez Sports Academy is run by the family of first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and is not affiliated with any Mexican League team. There were around 90 players from Mexico to sign during the entire 2017-2018 international signing period.
