2018 Brewers Optimism Thread!

Here's my rallying cry - maybe not so much a rallying cry as voicing my optimism so to convince myself that things are good but here we go:

The offense can only get worse if we get nohit. I think getting home is going to help that a ton, I really do. I think it went stale the last couple of games in Los Angeles and I think this will be a rejuvenated team when they get back to Milwaukee. Specifically, I hope that guys like Cain, Yelich, Aguilar, will show their best selves in a do or die game at home. I think they will.

Our best two pitchers are lined up for both games and we should have a rested bullpen that's ready to go. That's a huge plus.

During that long stretch of winning to end the season, what was the one constant we heard from the players? It's that you have to take this thing one game at a time. That could not be more true for this circumstance that they find themselves in. Find a way. I don't care how, just find a way to win Game 6. Do that and you give yourself a chance while taking the pressure and placing it squarely on the Dodgers to beat our best pitcher with a 21 year old (however good Buehler may be) in a Game 7 to go to the World Series. I'll take my chances.

This team is not dead yet. Not by a long shot. I really believe the Brewers are going to win this series. I really do.

The Brewers won back to back games 34 times this season. We are not facing their ace in either of those games. knowing those two things, WE GOT THIS!

Up until couple days ago this is the same team the ripped off 12 in a row to get here. Coming home to an electric atmosphere with the best bullpen in the game ready to go. If they can win game 6, I don't see any way game 7 gets away. Can't wait!!

Historically speaking we are still about 50/50. It will feel much more plausible if they force Game 7, which I expect them to do. They should have their best bullpen strategy primed to go and there is actually hope in this one unlike 2011 when we threw a zombie on the mound for no apparent reason.

Yup, if the bullpen performs they should win Game 6. Then on Saturday every man and child should be available to pitch outside of Woodruff. Offensives come and go with the snap of a finger and it only takes on pitcher to struggle to get some runs.

It is pretty hard to predict a Game 7. So many moving parts and guys pitching in spots they aren't used to. I think something that could potentially help them in that situation is our pitchers are used to random outings and things being off. You can't say the same about the Dodgers if they start throwing starters around in the middle innings (like Ryu who has never done so)

It is also reassuring to know Counsell isn't dumb like Roenicke. Who would probably send Miley out to pitch and refuse to pull him until the 6th regardless of results because that is what starters do.

After witnessing Counsell’s innovative bullpen management in this series ... looking back, RRR starting Marcum in Game 6 was truly managerial malpractice.

It is time for the Crew to either put up or go home.

We got home field advantage so we need to take care of business and have a celebration at home .

It been a blast to see Oct baseball and either way I happy the Crew gave us this season

And the young guns of Woodruff, Burnes, and Peralta will only get better, with Roegner, Supak, and Brown on the way.

Even if they fall in this series, they have seen playoffs, they will be better for it down the road.

Tomorrow is Friday. Start of a weekend. I'm going to go watch the Brewers with my son at Miller Park in a playoff game in October. Life could be a lot worse!

Also, I remember being a down in 1982 after the Brewers went down 0-2 to the Angels in a best of 5 ALCS series. That worked out Ok.

User in-game thread post in 1st inning of 3rd game of the 2022 season: "This team stinks"

Two wins in a row? No problem. We just did a 12 game run, so two is easy. Go Crew!

Back home, rested bullpen, mental break, opportunity for guys like Broxton and Suter to lighten the mood for everyone else. We significantly outplayed the Dodgers in both home games, no reason we can't do it again. But this time we won't give either game away.

1. The Brewers have the 2 starters they want going

2. Hader, Jeffress, and Knebel will be full go for both games without a doubt

3. No Kershaw

4. At Home

5. The Top 6 in the order have no where to go but up

If the Crew can win Friday I think they win the series. Obviously the key is the offense and getting into a more hitter friendly environment helps. Brewers probably had 3 more home runs and win one more game if those games were at Miller park (Aguilar, Shaw, and Granderson comes to mind).

The Brewers are 5-0 in games I attended this year. And those five wins weren't just any old wins, they were all critical wins in brilliant stretches:

Monday, May 28 - beat the Cardinals 8-3 to get to 15 games over .500 (35-20, our high water mark until July) and cap off a stretch of games in which we went 14-4.

Friday, August 24 - beat the Pirates 7-6 in 15 innings, courtesy of Jordan Lyles, Eric Kratz, and Orlando Arcia. You can easily argue that this game was a turning point in the season that propelled us to a great September.

Tuesday, September 4 - beat the Cubs 11-1. Nice to gain ground on the Cubs and keep a good stretch of baseball going.

Sunday, September 30 - beat the Tigers 11-0 for our 7th straight win to force a game 163 tiebreaker.

Friday, October 5 - beat the Rockies 4-0 for our tenth straight win to give us a 2-0 lead in the NLDS.

I'm going to the game tonight.

On a side note, I'm also accepting offers of free NLCS Game 7 and World Series tickets.

Bullpen and starting pitching sets up perfectly for these two games.
