2018 Brewers Optimism Thread!

torts
I want 60 wins before the break!

Would love this too, but is it realistic??

8-3 would be the requirement.

Not impossible. The longer we can keep the current streak last the better. Win 3 more in a row and suddenly you only need to go 5-3. Play well and avoid consecutive losses.

This is the optimism thread. 8-3, that’s a given.

Let’s go 10-1. :)

I thought you said this was the optimism thread?

11-0! ;)

I thought you said this was the optimism thread? The Cubs and Cards will announce that they know they can't beat the Brewers and have forfeited the rest of their seasons.

Just look at how the Twins season has gone. That could have been us. 2 Young guys regress( Buxton/Sano)/ ( Santana/Arcia), Number 1 pitcher is out for most of the season(E Stantana)/(Nelson) . My hats off to Sterns for building depth and a lights out bullpen.

I don't know if its Stearns, or Counsell, or Johnson, or who, but yeah. All the injuries, big regressions, no Nelson or any ace, and the best record in the National League currently? Hats off.

Not to mention that Braun & Shaw haven’t had great first half. Pina struggled for much of the season. Those are 3 bats that can do damage & get real hot. Thames missed a ton of time. Yelich & Cain have had to miss smaller but still extended time. We have have had little to mixed production from middle infield..... yet we are going to break our most wins before break in franchise history! 8-3 for 60 is very possible with struggling Marlins & Pirates after the Braves!

Just imagine what it's going to be like when those guys start pulling their weight? '27 Yankees-esque!!!

7 more W’s before ASG to get to 60 wins!

18 over on their first try!!!!!

I love that you’ve jumped on board my 60 wins quota!

Gotta believe. It really is possible too. They keep finding ways to win. Wait til Cain comes back. We may not lose again!

Gonna be tuff w/ out suter 2morro. I think counsell should just go 2 Hader, everytime he feels a little tweaked or nervous or has sum anxiety. Have we ever? Lost a game Hader has appeared in?

T-rain.

Yes, a couple. Didn't lose any in his first 18 appearances I believe, but we had a couple innings in late June/early July where the wheels fell off.

Without looking it up, I think we've lost 2-3 games that Hader has appeared in.

Good news is I don’t see anyway Zugurski survives on this roster another day or holds a 40 man spot. Rough again with ERA sitting at a cool 54.00. With Cain back tomorrow, he has to be one out after today

I'm curious to see if Ramirez or Torres-Costa pitches for the Sky Sox tonight. I honestly think there's a decent chance one gets selected tomorrow in a Zagurski DFA move.

Torres-Costa is probably the better pitcher, but that makes the choice tougher if they pick him and it doesn't work out. Ramirez is like the Nate Orf of relief pitchers.

Zag ended at 63 today I believe !

And we are in first place- best in the NL - with a reliever that is the equivalent of a massive homecoming bonfire with plenty of gasoline

And Hader is good for like 4 innings tomorrow...

Guerra, Anderson, Chacin, Peralta gets us through the Miami series. Thursday starter is ??? Then Guerra again on Friday, followed by Anderson in 1 of 2 for the doubleheader on Saturday, and Chacin in finale before break.

Does Peralta go down after the Wednesday start and return for game 4 after the break? That would give him 9 days off and let us stretch his innings limit further into the season. 2nd Saturday starter can't be the same guy as next Thursday, so I will assume a combo of Wilkerson and Woodruff get those. Lot of pressure on Guerra and Anderson to eat up innings in between.

Next 9 games are big. Love to get 6 of them.

I think we were past the point of needing this series for a measuring stick, but I felt it was a chance at a statement series and we sure made a statement to the rest of the NL imo.
Remember what Yoda said:

I think Miley gets the Thursday start.

Then either Suter, Wilkerson, or Woodruff gets the second Saturday start. Counsell said today that Wilkerson could factor into that Saturday start (not sure if the 10 day requirement comes into play when it's a double header)

Regardless, I think the Brewers will go 6-2 to close out the first half.

-Still have a shot at 60 before the break (need 6-2).

-We are hot on the tail of the premier rental Machado. Even if we lose out him going after him likely means no matter what big addition(s) are coming to Miller Park soon.

-Just beat a playoff hopeful 3-1 in a four game series.
