Definitely not good for baseball to see an arm like that go under the knife.

While true that Tommy John has become a surgery pitchers can rebound from more often than not, this definitely speaks to the argument for opting to draft position players towards the top of the draft instead of pitchers. Position playes have a much lower chance to sustain serious and career-derailing injuries that wind up scuttling a high draft pick for teams that can't afford too many total misses.
