Loyola! Wow
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Not trying to take away from what Loyola has done, but they were a team clearly better than what seed they were given and have played a whole slew of unimpressive opponents. KSU without their best player in the Elite 8? Yawn.

That being said they are a really solid team that could certainly win two more games. Just not an incredible run beating top tier opponents.

I actually feel bad for people that can't get a wee bit excited about this team.

I'm not a bandwagon jumper ever, but this is kind of neat watching them run all the way to the final four.

You're doing CBB all wrong then. No point hoping for UW (or Marquette) titles because they're never coming! Just being a realist :)

I’ll be honest. As a Michigan fan I feel a little guilty of the run of opponents to possibly get to the championship game. It must be what Badger fans feel every year as the football team plays in the Big Ten championship game.

I feel no remorse for my Badgers beating up on the west. None whatsoever. :tongue

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

You can only beat who they put in front of you.

Some years the west will be stronger and some years it will be weaker, plus the just 2 seasons ago they played all the best teams in the East and STILL played for the big ten title(if my memory serves correctly).

Maybe.....eventually......though with the way college football seems to be moving away from any sort of parity it’s going to tough for pretty much anyone but Wisconsin and maybe Nebraska to have any real sustained success. The east is just loaded right now and it doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. I will say the Big Ten in general seems to have done a great job with recent coaching hires. Brohm. Fleck. Frost. Harbaugh. All excellent hires.

True. But in football, at least non conference wise, you more or less control who you play. Wisconsin would be wise to follow the Ohio St method and start scheduling home and home series with name brand schools. That’s the only way they’ll overcome the weak division issue.

At least in the NCAA tournament you have the chance to play good teams. It’s not Michigan’s fault that UNC couldn’t beat Texas AM or that Xavier couldn’t beat Florida St. Its not like Michigan scheduled Texas AM and Florida St.

Sorry, I didnt mean to imply that it would be stronger than the east, just stronger in comparison to this year. I would expect Nebraska to be better and Iowa is no slouch. I don't see the west being stronger than the east anytime soon. As far as scheduling goes, I will put that thought into the football thread sometime, but the Badgers have scheduled LSU and Bama recently...hard to do much more than that year in and year out.

It’s shocking that an SEC was willing to come up and play a game in the North.....and they lost. Doubt we’ll ever see that happen again. Also, Alabama hasn’t played a true non conference road game in like ten years. They play name brands teams, often during that teams down season (Michigan, Louisville, FSU, West Virginia, etc). Wisconsin should follow that strategy.

True. I've often thought Wisconsin should try to schedule more games against the 'middle' teams in the SEC. Those teams are always over ranked, so wins against them would look better.
