Jimmy Nelson [Latest (10/6): Nelson: No longer a “rehabber” -- post #161]

Madhawk23
Sounds like he’s on pace to close out game four of the World Series for us as we will be up 19-2 at that point. Very nice.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Well, to bad he didnt return, but maybe the extra months of rehab vs performance will result in better return and far less relapse. Adding Nelsonto this team with Hiura next season really jolts expectations after this yyear's ability.

I highly doubt Hiura sees any meaningful MLB action next year before September.

I went to check the update and Haudricourt blocked me...all because he said something about how Counsell managed Hader and I said “One word, incorrectly”. Cry me a river Tom. :laughing

Maybe he sees my posts here and knows I think he is a garbage writer. He is only useful for a Jimmy Nelson update once every three months.

It must be hard to be a baseball beat writer for someone who hates baseball as much as Haudricourt.

I'm blocked by Tom too and I can't remember why. He's a real smarmy twitter personality, that much I know. Garbage writer also.

You could have said the same for Freddy Peralta who's 2months older than Hiura. I'd expect Hiura to start next season at AAA and when time has passed to control him an extra season that he'd be called up any time from that moment so long as his OPS was above .750. Waiting til September? Huge mistake for team control reasons. You'd control him through 2025 whether youwaited 15games vs. 130+ games. Only way it wouldnt be a mistake is that he struggles and doesnt deserve the call up.

Keston Hiura is going to need way higher than a .750 OPS to get onto the roster before September. Acquiring Schoop was a pretty good sign they aren’t rushing Hiura next year. Why would they promote a 2B only (and not very good 2B) OPSing about what you would expect out of Schoop? What a sad state we would be in if we are promoting poor defending .750 hitters at AAA.

Doesn’t make a ton of sense. He better be hitting .850 to get called up and replace Schoop.

Well, in 2015 I said that Jimmy Nelson would injure his shoulder on the base paths two years later and that eeeeveryone would be all optimistic about him returning some time in 2018 and that turborickey would advise everyone not to their hopes up because he wasn't going to pitch this year. My wife - my WIFE - got on me about turborickey's opinion on the situation.

Well look who's laughing now. Look who's laughing now.

One of the coolest moments last night for me was when Jimmy Nelson was introduced as part of the team before the game. Didn't get too much of a reaction and probably most like me assumed he wouldn't be there but was nice to see him back with everybody. Was a big part of the celebration at the end as well. Have been following him on Twitter and real impressed with the work he is putting in to get back. Odds are still against him to return to previous form but wouldn't be able to tell him that. Something to really look forward to next year no matter how far this team gets this year.
