....so how do we feel about 3/52.5, if that's true?

Also, Rydquist just tweeted that Arizona's MBB coach will resign in about 20 minutes. We'll find out how accurate his sourced info is pretty soon.

CORRECTION: The Cobb tweet is deleted. Probably not a good sign.

It appears he has deleted his Cobb tweet, though.

I call shenanigans. Obviously just some buffoon throwing spaghetti against a wall.

Thanks. I’ve just been a lurker, primarily for the offseason transaction news and rumors, but I hope to make some contributions going forward. Being in Illinois does not afford me the opportunity to constructively discuss the Crew (most Brewers conversations I begin around here end with a response of “Yah, but CUBZ!!!”), so I’ve greatly enjoyed everyone’s good work the last couple months.

To keep this post mildly on-topic, though, I like the idea of a Cobb addition, and with all the various smoke around these rumors, I’m cautiously allowing myself to get a little excited. I’m really just hopeful that this offseason indicates the start of a new organization-wide strategy that charts a middle course between the Bust/All-In cycle we’ve endured lately.

I would love if it were in the lower 40's over 3 years but like another poster once responded back to me, does another $10M over 3 years make that much of a difference?

Dude. I'm 32. I live in Milwaukee. And I'm a diehard BREWERS fan. Just posted that to see if anybody else saw it. That's all.

Was just fooling around. Thought the Seinfeld reference would have been a give away. Thanks for the post.

Not hard to make an educated guess...

But a bad one at that as it has been reported he is just making a statement.

I'm going to guess $52.5 million is total value of the contract including incentives, and the guaranteed portion is significantly less.

Yeah it's gone. Damn it. But there's gotta be a reason he posted it. Maybe they're finalizing a deal and he wasn't supposed to post it...one can only hope.

Maybe, but he could also be totally full of it. I sincerely wish you're right, but he could just be a guy monitoring the rumors and then making something up that seems realistic.

[sarcasm]well, HH19 already deleted his twitter account, so its a foregone conclusion he's signing elsewhere[/sarcasm]

Well, I just watched the press conference, and Miller denied all allegations, is staying at Arizona, and Rydquist has already deleted the tweet.

He's obviously just some buffoon who throws speculation out as fact, then deletes it before he can be called on it. I do not have a Twitter account, but if I did, I'd flood his remaining posts questioning his wrong assertions.

You are right Boomer5, if you take away January 25, this offseason sucks.

Cobb is only a year and a half younger than Arrieta.

He has less of a track record and many more question marks IMO.

Let's hope these made-up rumors about Cobb go away and the Brewers pony up the money to sign Jake.

Did you know... The Milwaukee Brewers drafted Jake Arrieta in the 26th round of the 2005 MLB Draft out of Weatherford College in Texas?

He did not sign. The Orioles drafted him in the 5th round two years later and signed him.

I'm sure the Brewers will pull off a move or two at some point before opening day. I'm pretty confident, you could say. I'm super annoyed that I'm beginning to bite on less credible looking rumors (though I don't blame anyone for sharing in the thread).

[deep breath]

...One of these days, we'll have something fun to talk about!

He also projects to be much less of a financial albatross should he flame out. I know it's not my money, but signing Arrieta to a 4 year/$110 million deal is a pretty big risk. And I'm sure some team will end up paying that, because Boras.

Yea I agree with you, has to be a reason.

To just post that randomly out of the blue doesnt make much sense to me.
