"Tougher schedule" ??? this is a joke right? Western Kentucky, New Mexico, and BYU.... do you want them to play Whitewater too? They don't even play Ohio State.

@Iowa @ #14 Michigan @ #10 Penn St @Northwestern

*eyeroll* so if they don't beat anyone good they should go to the playoff?

Work out well for Alabama last year :)

Is this a joke? This year's schedule is infinitely better than last years schedule. It's literally not a debatable topic. And they'll have to play one of the big 4 from the other side in the title game, likely OSU.

Tougher than last year. That was the post.

Exactly. Plus even just comparing it in general to college schedules it's middle of the pack. Not awful, not ridiculously tough like someone from the B1G East who also plays us and a major conf non conference. All our toughest games are on the road, two of which are supposed to be top 10ish level teams. It just looks worse than it should because BYU has fallen apart the last two years instead of their normal 9+ win teams.

I like how this narrative for UW never goes away in spite the 3 mega matchups to start the year and two seasons ago when they played all the big guys from the East plus LSU and still won 10 games and went down to the wire in all their losses vs top teams. Next year they get MSU, Mich, and OSU.

It would be great if the Badgers had a tough schedule every year but it’s just not how things work. Doesn’t mean they can’t find themselves in a playoff game if they take care of business.

On Cephus: Innocent until proven guilty but boy that article did not sound great. Another one bites the dust I guess.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Schedule: the schedule is no doubt tougher this year, and as other pointed out Alabama's schedule last year was sub-par and they had no issues. Also, didnt they have an incredibly.tough non conference schedule like 3 straight years?

Cephus: I have no idea what happened or what anyone's intentions were, but these stories are always awful. I know many girls...and guys who woke up after a night out and had no idea what happened the night before.

Part of my message got cut off. - people need to be aware of their situations...easier said than done.

Looks like lots of bad decisions made that night - admitting underage people into a bar, overserving customers to the point of dangerous intoxication, choosing to drink to the point of dangerous intoxication and compromised decision-making, and taking advantage of intoxicated people/possible rape.

In addition to Cephus, the Double U bar is going to have a lot of questions to answer themselves.

Teams that have a high preseason ranking are allowed to play an easier schedule and lose more games than teams that start the year ranked lower. The system is designed to give credit to performances in previous years.

That certainly works for us...

Cephus is done. There should be little expectation of him returning to the team this year or ever. As far as the case goes, it will most likely come down to whether or not the victims want to testify, but my sense is that after an investigation like this, they are. I would expect a conviction and incarceration if they do. You just cant do what he is alleged to have done to people who are too drunk to consent. He is charged specifically with sexual assault of an intoxicated person. His statement seems to acknowledge a sexual encounter because he says it was a "consensual relationship"

On to the season.

With all the attention to OSU and MD, both MSU coaches are just somehow flying under the radar with everything they've covered up. IMO, what they've done is much worse than what Meyer has done. Yet no one is talking about them.

It’s sadder than more attention is on Meyer than his POS assistant coach.

If they really do have these things, I wouldn't be surprised if cephus is back with the team before the first game.

Tail of articles.... be very interesting to see how it plays out. The girls article was rough to read and tough to magine that he’d ever play football again & not go to jail. One from lawyers, makes you think it was the complete opposite and with plenty of video evidence.

I coach with a former Badger starting receiver & he has met Cephus couple of times and echos what you often hear about him. Outstanding kid, bright future, elite student off field.....not a kid you’d expected to do something as bad as being charged. If he did, shame on him & he threw away a lot. Same coached talked about how you are cautioned to be smart & do best to avoid those situations. Girls throw themselves at you. False rap claims & or abuse claims have long been an issue in sports. As a college kid....Again I wasn’t there and have only read the articles. No clue truth & hopefully truth comes out. You hope a kid with as much promise on & off the field wouldn’t rap two girls who are basically passed out & not functioning. We shall see

First game is on 8/31 and trial doesn't start until 9/6. If the evidence was that strong to support Cephus than I would think that charges would not have been filed in the first place. I think unlikely until at least 3rd game, thus why Davis was suspended for the first two.

The thing that makes me scratch my head about the girls story... if they were stupid drunk at the bar like they claimed, what bar wouldn't have kicked them out or called the police? If you stumble all over the place in a bar, especially around campus, you get bum-rushed out of there in a flash or have the cops called or both. Second, the girl threw up in the hospital while talking to the detective around 4:30am. But she left the bar around midnight-12:30am. There was no mention of alcohol consumption at Cephus' apartment. But the original article said she - and the entire hospital room - reeked of alcohol. If she left the bar around 12:30am and stopped drinking... she reeked of alcohol and threw up four hours later? How often does someone throw up four hours after they stopped drinking?

I think there is a decent chance that the girls drank a lot of alcohol - perhaps on purpose - after leaving Cephus' apartment.

If what his lawyers are saying is true it makes the entire thing pretty confusing. It doesn’t really make sense for these girls to go have mutual fun and turn around to get super wasted and then claim rape. Cephus is a college player with no money to go after...why would they do it? There was a loooong investigation before bringing charges, that makes me think him being entirely innocent here seems unlikely. It is going to trail and I doubt it will be super quick.

So far there are a lot of bits and pieces without what happened in between. Hopefully the truth will be uncovered either way and proper justice can be served.

Just read a new article today, they have video of girls leaving & walking fine down the stairs. One girl casually talking with him at door before leaving. He received a text 45 minutes after they left asking about if he finds her vap, let her know with a kiss & heart emoji. The two stories from both sides are so polar opposite. They moved to dismiss charges today & if they truly have all that evidence.... seems like a decent chance to get thrown out. But again, long investigation & brought charges so has to be something there. A lot doesn’t add up

I don't think this is unfaiir, but I do think the narrative around Urban is that his 'apology' the other night shows how much of a problem this all is.... didn't really apologize to the victim, and sounded like a kid being forced by his parents to apologize to his brother when he really doesn't mean it. The stuff about him deleting his text messages shows that he wasn't as oblivious as he'd like us to believe he is.

Maybe after they left they remembered them taking pictures and got pissed and then hatched this "plan" to get revenge.

It's been a long time since I have had a puker from binge drinking but I never really threw up while drinking unless I did some stupid chugging. But a few hours later or in the morning it happened all the time.

Not sure what to think of all this, it took a long time for the charges. Just from a football fan point of view he is a big loss, they are deep but he is/was their best wideout, he may have been the difference against Ohio State last year had he not been injured.

If what his lawyers are claiming does in fact exist then there might have been some outside pressure to bring charges. This may explain the lenght of the investigation and his statement in the press release about not being as connected as some people. Either way this is a very confusing case.
