New Primary Logo

patrickgpe

I can't remember the last time I saw the brewers use their ball and script logo, so this makes sense. Its a much cleaner / better one anyway.

I would prefer that they get rid of the old logo and just make the ball and glove logo their primary alternative logo.

I agree 100%. The hat logos are very clean and quite good. The former primary logo, as well as the alternate Milwaukee logo below have always looked like the baseball was sitting on top of a spinning record. Upgrade!

I'm sure it was all about revenue to sell new merch but looking at that history you really have to wonder what the guys in charge of this were thinking in leaving the ball and glove in 93. It's not like dislike MB one after in anyway but the ball and glove is just perfect. In a way the MB one after is so rarely seen at this point that it's probably the most 'retro' one there is. I never seen anyone in that gear but I have old Burnitz jersey somewhere with it

The mid-90s MB logo was retched. So blocky and unappealing. It was the Mike Matheny of logos.

Actually, it fit those mid-90s Brewer teams perfectly.

Maybe I'm just waxing nostalgic, but the ball & glove logo is so perfect, and continues to hold up today. While I love it used with the new color scheme as well, the throwback games are still the best. It is a reminder that, while baseball is a business, it is also at heart a kids' game that is supposed to be fun. The players really seem to dig the ball & glove logo as well.

The Barrel Man is my favorite and I wish I never saw that MB logo ever again. Hated that one. This 'new' one looks pretty crisp.

This Barrelman logo from the YOUniform contest in 2013 should have been implemented into the Brewers uniform in some fashion. This is an excellent combination of the original Barrelman with the current barley.

I don't know why they are fighting making the ball and glove logo the primary logo. Most love it, it is nostalgic and current as well.

It is a brilliant logo, one of the best of all time imo.

Those Youniforms were the best looking things they've had in years. Worn for two exhibition games never to be heard from again. Barrelman and the original Brewers M, which was just the Braves M in new colors, are the best logos to me. The ball and glove is nice but seems way too dated to me to be used regularly today. Also seems like more of the organization hanging on to their one team that lost a championship. The current M and barely and script logos are just so bland. They seem corporate and safe. I have a soft spot for the green/blue MB logo. Probably because that was the logo when I became a baseball fan. It's not pretty but I think it gets way too much hate.

Not saying the barrelman is terrible, but it is right where it should be...in the past. That should not be seen on any sort of consistent basis. Maybe once a year for fun.

+1

I like the new logo. Leave it for a while. It is simple, clean and it looks nice on just about anything.

As much as I like the ball and glove logo, it is also something that can be used from time to time to remember the past but that is about it.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

The "new" logo has been around for almost 20 years now. They've used it longer than any logo in the team's history.

But it hasn't been the primary logo. It's been an additional one. Leave this one as the primary one for a long, long time. It is a good look.

What exactly does primary logo mean? This logo was on their hats, helmets, and jerseys for over a decade and up until recently was the logo used for all TV graphics. Even the Sportslogos.net article says the only thing that's changing is it's now listed as the primary logo on their website.

You can go to ESPN right now and they are still using the circle logo with Brewers script there. I feel like a lot of sports websites did.

The ugly, now old, one was used in a lot of instances. Could not be happier to see it less.

Great I bet the couple dozen balloons I just bought with the old logo sell like crazy now. Get them while they last!!! I still have some of the 90's era logo left. What are the chances anyone will feel so nostalgic of 90's era Brewers teams to ever buy them?

p.s. anyone interested in reliving their childhood baseball experience through balloon art? :laughing

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Couldn't agree more. It always got shrunk down a bunch when used and became unreadable, just a messy and unwieldy thing it was.

This is what has me confused. It's the same logo on their hats, etc. for many, many years. To me, that means primary. Reading the other posts, I guess they were using some other logo in various graphics, etc. but I never even noticed any of that.

The Brewers primary logo was the Brewers script on the ball posted earlier. Similar to the Yankees with bat and hat and the Dodgers with the red flying ball. That was the official mark of the organization. The M with Barley was only the hat logo. While this may seem like much ado about nothing, the M with Barley will now be the official logo the Brewers use to promote the ballclub.

I know I am in the vast minority but I have many fond memories of that ugly 90’s era logo. Probably just because it was the logo of the team when I was coming of age as a fan.

I also really liked the "Motre Bame" logo & uniforms. I still loved the ball & glove logo but I was very tired of the royal-and-yellow color scheme, and I'd been hoping for navy blue for years. I drove 350 miles for that FanFest in January 1994 when they unveiled those uniforms, which I thought were SO cool (bought a white one that day, plus both home & road caps). When they combined navy with the gold (plus green trim -- at the time, a real plus in my book) I thought it was a great update. I still prefer that color scheme and wish the "Milwaukee" navy jerseys were trimmed in gold, not yellow. (I'm glad they eventually tried the gold/mustard/whatever alternate jerseys but I'm not sad that they're now history.)

I still really don't care for the yellow -- all the more so with the navy. Since the ball & glove logo is remaining in the picture, I wish they'd also update it fully to the navy-and-gold color scheme. Heck, I wouldn't mind the '82-ish retro uniforms as much if they'd update to the current color scheme, too.

All that said, as I've felt ever since they unveiled it, I think the current M/barley logo (and the accompanying uniform scheme) is classic, classy, crisp, and should remain the main deal ad infinitum.

I know I may be one of the only people it bothers, but can the Brewers please pick a logo and use it as the only logo in these type of events? Using the M with barley on the hard hats and shovels, while using the ball and glove on the planter box is horrible branding as it appears the Front Office cannot choose one logo or the other.
