Best TV Shows

Just watched 'The Expanse'. That was the best show I've seen in a long time. Every season builds on the next. Characters and narrative are great. Highly recommend.

I'll second that, though everything makes a lot more sense on a second viewing.

I really thought season 1 of Homeland on Showtime was amazing television. I stuck around and watched the next few seasons, which were good but decreasingly so year by year. They never matched season 1. Season 1 is worth a stand alone viewing IMO, a self-contained story that doesn't require you to keep watching subsequent seasons. Utterly gripping edge of your seat stuff.

I feel the same about House of Cards. The first season was incredible and they've just gone downhill since then. I didn't even watch last season. I guess you could say the same about True Detective. Season one was an all timer, season two really stink and season three was pretty good.

Ditto on all three. I've seen every season of HoC, Homeland, and True Detective. Sure, 1st season or two is always the best for almost any series, but I still think the last season of Homeland is better than anything on network TV.

I hated season 2 of True Detective but season 3 wasn't bad. I also loved the Expanse one of the better Scifi shows.

I also liked the show Happy not sure why but I liked it.

Did anyone’s favorite show get axed this week?

Not my favorite show but I did like Lethal Weapon. Not good when one of the main characters got fired and another was rumored to want out. Oh well.

I liked that show but didnt watch this last season. Not a fan of Seann William Scott.

Haven't seen what else has been canceled yet.

If you like the Broken Lizard crew, Tacoma FD has been pretty decent.

Yep, I've really enjoyed the show as long as you don't take it seriously, it's got some great moments with a good cast.

Lucy: What's my dumb rookie nickname?

Eddie: That'll come in time.

Lucy: Alright. Well, what was yours?

Eddie: Come on. Tingle button.

Lucy: Of course. What was my dad's?

Eddie: Nope, can't. That I'm not saying.

Granny: Tuna can.

Lucy: Why? Cuz he likes tuna?

Eddie and Ike: Haha, yeah sure.

Granny: It's because his junk is wider than it is long.

Lucy: Oh god dammit.

While I only get half of the references, Midnight Misadventures With Mallika Dua is hilarious. She is outstanding in that role. Kind of Colbert Report type of character spoof without the political overtones.
There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Colbert and most late night hosts are unwatchable for me.

It would be nice if we as a society could separate entertainment form politics, but will probably never happen again. Politics has entered every form of entertainment from professional sports (NFL and ESPN) to sitcoms, to talk shows.

I find it disgusting. Probably because I am a conservative, and there are so few conservative voices in our media.

Politics has always been fodder for late night hosts. Go back and watch some Johnny Carson re-runs on one of those MyTV stations, as he always had fun with what was going on politically. He poked fun at all of them, though. I agree that it is amped up and more pointed over the last few years.

But I'm old school when it comes to politics and media. I don't think there should be any conservative or liberal voices in the true media. Media should be unbiased. I know, yeah right.

Colbert is the worst when it comes to politics. Most of his show is pretty politically charged. Kimmel has softened his political stuff after going really hard for awhile. Fallon tends to steer the most clear of politics when compared to the others, and is usually safe if you are sick of the political bend late night.

We also like to separate politics from entertainment. Please no more politically tinged posts.

We do have a political board for those so inclined:

Sad that "Big Bang Theory" is finished. I wasn't impressed with the finale, but I have watched that show since episode one.

Will be missed.

Modern Family gets one more season. The last two season's finales were great episodes to end the series on. The show has really been spinning its wheels for a while, I can't imagine next year will be much better.

I thought the episode last week where they went through everyone's birthdays for the year was one of the best episodes in years.

Ya, I thought the last episode was pretty good. And would have been perfect to end the series on. However, the show really has no direction. Haley and Dillon getting married and having kids is pretty much the only thing that happened this season. Every other character is doing nothing and going no where.

I'm amazed Modern Family has lasted so long. The characters are all so one-note and lack any real depth at all.

I liked the Big Bang finale, though. Or maybe I'm still sour from How I Met Your Mother that I was just happy the writers didn't do anything crazy and kept everyone on a reasonable path. It was a nice nod to how they were all friends and I don't think it needed anything more.

I've felt that for about half the series. The only character that has really evolved has been Hailey and to a lesser extent Jay. But really that was just him accepting Mitch and only took about a season.

Game of Thrones. While I wasn't as crazy as a lot of people on this show, it was a good one. It did go out with a whimper though. People hated the last few episodes and last nights finale was no different.

Has anyone watched Westworld?

It has been recommended to me and I admit, it looks interesting...

Wasn't my cup of tea. A really slow burn of a show and for me just a lot of awkwardness.

Season 1 of Westworld was very good, I thought. Season 2 made me wonder what I was watching, because it seemed like it was all over the place.

Just finished Schitt's Creek on Netflix. Started slow but it grew on me, and they did a good job slowly developing the characters over time. Every time Hollywood portrays a middle-of-nowhere town, it's amazing how many beautiful people are walking around.
