Thought about watching Boom in the Valley and then reading this prompted me to do so. Ya, the format is weird. I think I like it but the skits/re-enactment parts make me feel like they're just making stuff up sometimes. Maybe that's their intent though, that some of this stuff is so crazy you can't make it up.

As a huge fan of The Who I knew some of the Michael Fenne/David Kim Stanley story as they (along with KISS and some other major musicians) were unwittingly part of his largest scam. So I'm kind of looking forward to how much of that they cover.

While I don't think it will be, the season finale of South Park felt a lot like a series finale. I think they may have even referenced my theory that they used this season to try and get cancelled when the boys said something like "everything gets cancelled because people get offended but no matter what we do we can't get people mad enough to get cancelled" and then lamenting about "how much longer can we do this?"

I used to be a huge South Park fan and to me it's really tailed off the last few years to the point where I haven't even watched the series finale yet.

Although I enjoy the satire, at some point it feels like they started trying too hard to constantly be making points rather than just being funny.

I still enioy Family Guy quite a bit, to me that's aged better.

I thought this season was better than seasons past. They went back more to the roots of their satire and just had funny episodes instead of this huge drawn out season.

Family guy can't age because there is no substance to it. I'm not saying it's never funny, I've laughed hysterically at many of their scenes, but all they're really doing is conjuring up random funny stuff. They constantly insert daydreams and "remember the time" scenes in the middle of episodes. It's actually an ingenious formula in that it makes the need to create new relevant material much less demanding.

Really enjoying the new season of True Detective so far.

McConaughey/Harrison set the bar pretty high in season one, but Ali/Dorff are really giving them a run for their money.

Awespme, I haven't checked that out yet, but loved season one.

Always thought Taxi was one of the most underrated shows in Television history. The cast alone:

Danny Devito - Still hitting it out of the park as Frank in "It's always Sunny in Philadelphia"

Andy Kaufman - Immortal

Chistopher Lloyd - How can you not like Doc from "Back to the Future"? Not to mention Doc becoming the inspiration for Rick of "Rick and Morty".

Marilu Henner - One of the stars of the always underrated movie "Johnny Dangerously" and don't forget her uncanny ability to remember details from just about every day in her life.

Tony Danza - Of course, best known for being the subject of the Elton John hit song "(Hold me closer) Tony Danza"

Judd Hirsch - Just as easy to play Seven Degrees of Judd Hirsch as it is to play Seven Degrees of Kevin Bacon

Jeff Conaway - Kenickie from Grease

Right up there with the cast from "Freaks and Geeks". How are there not more reruns of Taxi on TV (I'm not sure if there are any at all)?

My fiancee just discovered Cheers on Hulu. That show still holds up after all this time.

Cheers, one of the all time greats.

I'd put M*A*S*H in that category as well.

I think that's why we're seeing so many reboots and old sitcoms come back with the same actors. Most of the new stuff they are coming up with is pretty horrible sitcom-wise.

I've enjoyed a few somewhat new comedic shows out there. The Orville is pretty good. The Good Cop (Netflix) is fun. I recently watched the full run of a Fox sci-fi drama from a few years ago, Second Chance. It was only 11 episodes before it was cancelled, but it was an interested moral story mixed with procedural cop drama. I'm a sucker for redemption arcs LOL.

I recommend "Bodyguard" on Netflix. Not the Kevin Costner/Whitney Houston film (that was "The Bodyguard").

It's a 6-part political thriller starring Richard Madden - aka Robb Stark on "Game of Thrones".

Really nicely done, intense thriller. Not perfect, but really good.

Just finished "Russian Doll." Basically it's what you'd get if you took the premise of "Groundhog's Day" and some of the themes of "The Good Place" and then made the whole thing really dark.

It's not something that I'd feel comfortable recommending simply because the tone isn't for everyone and a few of the early episodes felt like they were spinning their wheels a bit, but once it hit its stride I really felt myself connecting to it.

Speaking of "The Good Place," the recent season finale confirmed that this is still my favorite show on television, network or otherwise. I'm shocked that a heavily serialized network sitcom about moral philosophy has not just lasted three seasons but also been renewed for a fourth, but I'm sure glad it has. Oh, and for the recent posts about "Cheers," Ted Danson's comedy chops have not faded with age. At all.

When I was in high school in the late 70's early 80's my dad and I would watch reruns of M*A*S*H every night at 10:30 after the news (I think they were showing reruns while the show was still creating new episodes in prime time) . I did enjoy the show a lot, but I thought it really lost a lot of comedy after Larry Linville (Frank) left, and the last 2 or 3 years of the show were pretty much unwatchable to me. After a while I believe they switched from M*A*S*H reruns to Cheers reruns at 10:30 (I think it was Channel 6 in Milwaukee that showed those reruns).

Has anyone watched this show? (on Amazon Video.) Very quirky. Is it a drama? comedy? Can't really put it in a box, which I why I really liked it. Got mixed reviews, and I can see how people didn't like it as I almost stopped after the first episode.

One of those shows that needs your full attention to really get into the mood of the show, catch all the subtle humor, flashback/ flash forward scenes, etc. I guess I loved it because it's very different, and really loved how it was produced, casting, etc. the more I watched it.

Nobody has taken me up on this? If you like the Cohen brothers stuff, you'll love this. (They weren't involved with this project, it's just similar.)

Loved Sons of Anarchy, however, the spin-off, Mayans has left me disappointed.

It just hasn't held my interest enough to properly binge watch the entire season that I have stored on my dvr. I've only been watching one episode at a time, whenever I have some extra time. Not a show I made extra time for...

Was just expecting a lot more...

After a while I believe they switched from M*A*S*H reruns to Cheers reruns at 10:30 (I think it was Channel 6 in Milwaukee that showed those reruns).

We had a three strikes rule with regard to MASH.

Strike 1 - Hunnicutt (Mike Farrell) instead of Trapper John (Wayne Rogers). Hunnicutt was just a lot more boring than Trapper.

Strike 2 - Col. Potter (Harry Morgan) instead of Col. Blake (McLean Stevenson). Stevenson was a very funny comedian, and he played off the other actors really, really well. Morgan was fine as Potter, and sort of acted as a moral compass at times. But Stevenson contributed to the anarchy of the early shows.

Strike 3 - Winchester (David Ogden Stiers) instead of Frank Burns (Larry Linville). Frank was just a brilliant character - it was hard to top that.

Each of these three replacements were fine. The actors were good and so forth. But each made things a little more staid and a little more conventional. Also, when Wayne Rogers left, it made Alan Alda the sole star. And Alda definitely pushed the show into his own direction over time.

In all of these cases, I think part of things simply reflected on the tone and writing of the show. As the show aged, the show lost its edge. There were often moments of brilliance, but they were fewer and further in between.

This season of Brooklyn 99 has been rather meh. There's been way too many episodes which almost entirely focus on one character and whatever their "personal struggle" is at the moment. It's a comedy, make me laugh. If I wanted the feels I'd watch This Is Us or some crap like that.
