Brett Nicholas

Rangers sent C Brett Nicholas outright to Triple-A Round Rock.

Nicholas cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last week. The 29-year-old could still be considered for the backup catcher job, but the Rangers could look outside the organization before Opening Day.

Bandy is out of options, so he'd be gone.

Are we assuming someone scoops him up or that he would decide not to stay in Milwaukee's system?

Question was simply on how many catchers would be on the 40-man roster. He could certainly sign a minor league deal with the Brewers, but then he would no longer be on the 40-man.

If Bandy is outrighted off of the 40-man (goes unclaimed on waivers), he would remain Brewers' property. He doesn't have the service time or a previous outright to allow him to become a free agent.
