From MLB: Medium-large frame. Plays 3B when not pitching. No windup, overhand delivery. Arm quickness, fastball touches average at times with riding life. Curveball rotation tight, downer, strike zone bite. Must develop change to complement. Minor mechanical flaws are correctable. Future fringe ML starter.

Gotta love it when the Brewers draft a kid from in-state like that Grybash. I was also hoping that they will take this kid from Parkside. Regardless I always root for the home state kids to get a chance!

FIRST FROM THIS GROUP SIGNED:

TO HELENA:

32nd rounder Will Lewis - 2B - TCU - TX

Good defensive 2B that also has a little bit of pop in his bat. Is a smart overall baseball player that has average tools across the board. If his power continues to develop he could be an above average 2B offensively with strong defense.

35. Phil Hendrix - RHP - Virginia Military Institute - NC

Shorter righty that just keep getting guys out. Throws 4 pitches for strikes that are all just about average pro level pitches: A high-80s fastball, curveball, slider & changeup. He has also proven to be quite durable over the years, and never backs down from a challenge.

Assigned to Helena

Razorbacks' Lewis signs with Brewers

By JAMES WILLIAMS

Texarkana Gazette Sports Editor

William Lewis, who had outstanding baseball careers at Arkansas High, Seminole Junior College and Texas Christian University, signed a professional contract with the Milwaukee Brewers' organization Thursday.

Lewis, who just completed his final season with TCU, will fly to Montana Sunday to begin play in the Pioneer League short season.

"Playing professional baseball has been my dream since I played my first game, I guess when I was about five years old," Lewis said Friday while making a brief stopover in Texarkana. "I'm as excited as I can be and I'm just glad as I can be that I can share this with my parents."

Lewis, the son of William Lewis Sr. and Mattlene Miller, was drafted by the Brewers in the 32nd round Wednesday. The Brewers sent a scout to Fort Worth Thursday and Lewis signed Thursday night.

After making all-state as a senior at Arkansas High in 1999, Lewis was overlooked by major college teams and signed with Seminole Junior College in Seminole, Okla., where he was Defensive Most Valuable Player in the Junior College World Series as a freshman and a junior college All-America selection as a sophomore.

After Seminole he signed with TCU and started every game for the Horned Frogs for the past two seasons. This past season he committed just two fielding errors at second base while hitting .337 with 37 runs, 15 doubles, three triples, six home runs and 55 runs batted in.

"I felt like I should have been drafted higher (than the 32nd round), Lewis admitted. "But it's been that way all my career. I think I've been overlooked a lot, but all that doesn't matter now.

"I don't' care what round I was drafted in or how much money I got to sign, I'm just glad to have a chance to prove myself at the professional level. All the rest will come to me if I take care of business like I have in the past."
