Wanna see the most moronic rule change proposal you'll ever see?

PinaMadness
Yea, I hit against women's softball pitchers in college. That was no fun, they can really bring it! Rising fastball is a weird thing to hit. That said, the mound is closer. There's a reason there hasn't been a woman in MLB. Of course, I wouldn't be able to get MLB hitters out either.

Oh, I'm not inferring that a woman could pitch in MLB. Just thought it was funny.

Also, the mound is closer, but the girls that hit are still facing fastballs at 75 mph from 37 feet away. They have less reaction time than MLB batters that face 100 mph heat. That's insane.

Not saying you are wrong, but didn't they move the mounds back a few years ago to like 42 or 45 or something? The point is still the same.

Hard to consider anything too moronic when 8 man reliever corps are the norm. Maybe if there was a limit to the bullpen size, or perhaps just the number of eligible relievers of the day, we wouldn't see games where 6+ pitching changes are the norm?

I've played in men's semi professional fastpitch leagues, you haven't tried anything until you face a grown man, 45 feet away throwing 100+ miles per hour. I faced a guy once that was clocked at 105, and went one for 3 against him. (Don't worry, the hit was pure luck, I decided to swing, swung, and blooped a single over the 2B head) I felt like the king of the world standing on 1B that night. lol

Basically, you have to decide during the wind up if you are going to swing or not. You pretty much have no time to make that decision once the pitch is on it's way.

It's a RUSH!

If we are moving toward both leagues having the same rule for the DH, how about you can only DH for the starting pitcher? When a reliever enters the game, he also replaces the DH. This would keep the strategy of having to use your bench and PH/double switching at the right times but pretty much eliminate having pitchers hit. It would even add some strategy because you might not pull your starter quite as quick if you've got a big DH bat that is coming up the next inning. Might need to add a 26th roster spot, but I don't think that would be a big deal.

Once DH has to be lifted (when SP leaves the game), the DH can enter the game in any position players spot and the relief pitcher assumes the player leaving the games spot in the batting order. Sort of like a double switch.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Yeah, good idea. Then you don't need to add a roster spot. Somebody call Rob Manfred. I think everybody wins with a rule like this.

They could try it out for a year or two in just the interleague games and see how it goes. I don't see a downside.

That's exactly what the rule is now, except for pulling the SP part.

Didn’t know that. Well then it’s an easy adjustment.
