I was looking at the standings today and noticed something about the teams with the worst records this year.

.295 Bal

.333 KC

.390 SD

.396 Mia

.403 Det

.403 CWS

.424 Cin

How many of these teams would you say are "tanking"? Miami and maybe the White Sox is about all I see. The Orioles are just horribly run. The Royals tried to hold on for too long after their World Series and now have a horrible major league team with an equally bad minor league system. The Padres have bounced back and forth between trying to win and trying to build but I would say the Hosmer signing takes them out of tanking territory. The Tigers tried to spend their way to a title for a decade and are paying for it now. The Reds have completed the tank and I would guess will try to get some big league pitching this offseason. Seems like being a horribly run organization has more to do with a bad record than rebuilding...I mean tanking.

Detroit Tigers' Mario Impemba, Rod Allen have 'severe' physical incident

https://www.freep.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2018/09/06/detroit-tigers-mario-impemba-rod-allen/1210999002/

The contentious personal relationship between Fox Sports Detroit’s top two Detroit Tigers broadcasters, Mario Impemba and Rod Allen, has boiled over.

The pair was involved in a physical altercation immediately following Tuesday night’s game against the White Sox, according to multiple persons with direct knowledge of the situation.

The sources requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak on the incident, which was described as "severe" by one person who was present. Katie Strang of The Athletic was first to report the news.

Time to break out the Rod Allen video:

I remember the ballyhoo when Jeter "faked getting HBP". This is awesome!

I love this. Teams might "tank" (hate that word), but the players are going out there and busting their asses trying to win those games, even when they're 100% out of the playoffs. In some cases, even cheating!

Hahaha... this is my favorite line:

"If you got your feelings hurt, that’s on you. If a guy hits a home run off me, drops to his knees, pretends the bat is a bazooka and shoots it out at the sky…I don’t give a s—."

Was prepping for fantasy playoffs and my opponents has Acuna from ATL. Did some math on his stats if extrapolated to 150 games, he's only played like 93 this year. He'd have 41 HRs, 86 RBI, 23 SBs with a slash of 293/367 and 950ish OPS at age 20. That's just crazy.

Made me look at Soto as well at age 19 for 150 games. 25 HR, 87 RBI with a 298/426/922.

Way less hype around these guys than Trout/harper but they're up there. Trout's first year at age 20 playing 139 games (he did get his feet wet the year before at 19 though) he had 30 HR, 49 SB, 83 RBI and 326/399/963. Harper played 139 at age 19, 270/340/817 with 22 HR 59 RBI and 18 SB.

I believe the connection is that they workout at the same gym (along with Clay Matthews), but I got a kick out of Baker Mayfield sporting an autographed “YELI” jersey as he walked from the bus to the locker room for Thursday night football.

Edit: After the game in which he made his first career appearance and led the Browns to a comeback win, Baker Mayfield finished his post-game press conference with a “Christian Yelich for NL MVP” mic drop, Twitter Link.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

But Jorge Lopez has been awesome for the Royals

Not sure a sub 7 K/9 and over a 3.5 BB/9 with a 41% hard contact% constitutes awesome. Lopez hasn't shown me anything i'm going to miss so far this year though it is still way too early to close the books on him obviously.

Was bored this morning and watched a bunch of ejection videos on MLB.com. I noticed two interesting things. There were a lot of managers that were tossed as they were calmly walking from the dugout, not saying a word, just coming out to talk and they get tossed immediately. The other was that in a couple videos, the announcers said you can't argue a balk. I've never heard that before.

For some reason I’m hearing AL MVP...nevertheless, love seeing the extra love!
