St Louis signs their first rounder!!

The reason to be excited about this is that maybe this will start a flurry of first and second round pick signings such as our own Rickie Weeks. That is one thing that I truly hope for.

The Yankees, Orioles, and Rockies have also agreed to terms with 1st rounders: Eric Duncan, Nick Markakis, and Ian Stewart, respectively.

 

Maybe it's just me, but it really seems like more of the 1st rounders were signed at this point last year. Unless I'm missing someone, only the Cards, Dodgers, and the afforementioned teams above have signed their 1st rounders so far.

I'm not sure if your right or not Peavey, but after getting whipped last year the agents of first rounders might be trying to stop the bleeding if possible while teams try and clamp down a little more this year. Also Oakland had like a dozen picks in the first and supplementary rounds mostly of the signability variety, os they could have accounted for most of the work by themselves.
