Well, at least it appears that the dominoes are slowly starting to call. Garcia is the perfect signing for the Blue Jays, because he will be easily flipped at the deadline when they are 15 games behind the Yankees and Red Sox.

 

Lots of big names still out there, though. I imagine those guys are getting antsy.

Its actually a bit more than I expected. Teams are really cracking down on aav when years are involved. Not so much on these short term deals.

With this and Cashner signing happening today, I feel like teams/SP free agents want deals done before spring training games start. I could see both Lynn and Cobb signing soon. Arrieta/Boras and their delusional asking prices will probably sit out until June, that's my prediction anyway.

While he may have been marginally more useful than Wade Miley, it wouldn't have been significantly enough to warrant any sort of contract offer. Just another #4-5-type, which the Brewers have plenty of.

I'd call it reasonable value. Only a 1 year commitment and the going rate for 1 WAR is somewhere around $8 million and he's probably in the 1-2 WAR range this year. Maybe trends toward good value/steal since it is only a 1 year commitment.

Definitely not a steal but only a one year contract so you pay a bit of a premium for that.
