Ryan Braun

THe problem is that Braun is a useful player and Kemp is not, despite the modest cost savings.

And the prospects? Or the fact that Braun is only more useful at positions where they wouldn't really miss him anyway? It would be silly to pass on an extraordinarily rare, and frankly almost miraculous, opportunity to trade him to a team he'd waive his no-trade clause for and get worthwhile prospects in return, all while resolving the huge dilemma of what to do with Santana and Aguilar, and without suffering much of a downgrade at any position except 1b against LHP's - assuming Braun can even handle 1b, stay reasonably healthy, and avoid the kind of precipitous decline that's so common for players his age in the first place.

Seen on Twitter in two different spots one breaking it, another confirming it. Maybe I have terrible sources but they seemed legit. Hug watch? Damn.

Per Ron Cervanka 1 hr ago(@think_blueLA) BREAKING: Just received info from a reliable source that there is a possible trade in the works between the Dodgers and Brewers involving @TheRealMattKemp and several top Dodger prospects.

Per Michael J. Duarte 30 min ago (@michaelduarte) I can confirm that the trade talks with the #Dodgers  and #Brewers are for Matt Kemp and Ryan Braun as well as Dodger prospects. Right now, the deal is hung up one specific player the #Dodgers  don't want to move.

Let's assume the rumors are real and the trade goes through. Are we certain Braun would even accept it? I know he's said he would but Braun has to be excited about the shape of the Brewers roster with Yelich and Cain, especially knowing that they can add pitching potentially.

Granted, he could hate 1b, but it doesn't seem like he does. And it lets the Brewers put a great lineup out there when he can play there. I'm not convinced he wouldn't exercise his veto right.

I doubt they'd bother to talk about it if they haven't at least gotten some indication that he's open-minded about it. He has already publicly said LAD is the one team he'd like to be traded to, though that was before the Brewers became surprise playoff contenders.

I wouldn't doubt that the move to 1B would make him more likely to accept it as well. It makes perfect sense for both teams. LAD gets under the tax threshold (crucial for them) and gets a big upgrade in LF. Milwaukee gets prospects and is positioned even better to be possibly the dominant team in the NL in about 3 years. I love it.

If I was Braun I would have told Stearns if you want to trade me to the Dodgers do it in the off season......but then again I'm not Braun.

They may have wanted to explore several other avenues to clear more p.t. in RF and 1B before they decided on this. Braun lives in L.A. and I'm not real concerned about him blocking a trade, assuming LAD wants him as their primary LF.

Now THIS seems like an April fools joke, but I guess we shall see.

I've never known anyone to play an April Fools joke on 3/31.

I have no idea who the main piece would be, but I'd be giddy if it was Ruiz (catcher, LAD's #3 depending on whom you ask), let alone Verdugo or Buehler. Personally I'd be fine with a good depth haul of several prospects who have a chance to be solid.

Ryan Braun - 1B - Brewers

Michael Duarte of NBC Sports Los Angeles reports that there have been trade talks involving Ryan Braun going to the Dodgers for Matt Kemp.

Braun has been mentioned as a possible Dodger target before, but it appears these talks have started to pick up some steam. Duarte also reports that the Dodgers would also send prospects to the Brewers in the deal, but there are holdups involving a certain player. This wouldn't be the blockbuster it was a few years ago, but Braun is still a solid player, and Kemp looks much improved after losing weight this offseason. This could be one worth monitoring.

I am not on board with this unless the prospects are close to blue chip...

What in God's name will we do with Kemp? Cut him?

Braun at 1B, and Cain, Yelich and Domingo in the OF is going to produce big time numbers. Thames I have no confidence in at all.

It would be a shame to ship Braun off for next to nothing. I'm used to the idea of him getting a game or two off a week.

Those of you who think he would rather stay in Milwaukee because we have something brewing, do you not think the Dodgers wouldn't be an attractive place to play given the fact that their team is 100% in contention for a WS title?

Maybe that's the point of the joke. Nobody would expect an April Fool's Joke on the day before.

I don't always give sports commentators a lot of credit, but I don't think anyone with a reputation for some credibility and that many followers could be dumb enough to think it's funny to start April Fools jokes early. The whole point is to do it on 4/1.

Sorry guys. I saw it in two places that seemed credible. My bad.

On the note of it being fake, I am glad. Don’t want Kemp. Love watching Braun play and want him to finish out his time with us as a winner.
