2018 Winter Olympics

I'm looking forward to it as well. Hopefully we can keep the thread positive. Last time we had an Olympics thread I seem to remember a few posters stating how boring they thing the Olympics are and how disinterested they are about it. That's fine, but not sure why you feel the need to post that here. How about just not posting anything in the Olympics thread if you don't have any interest in the Olympics?

User in-game thread post in 1st inning of 3rd game of the 2022 season: "This team stinks"

My friend said that to me yesterday about figure skating! I've always been cool with the fluff pieces, but yesterday, I just wanted to see some competition and on both channels it was all just stories.

Anyone watch the women's snowboarding yesterday? Crazy how bad the wind was blowing them around. Felt bad for them.

Maybe I time it wrong, but it seems like every time I turn to NBC, I get figure skating....

Because it is by far the sport to watch and I believe it is actually live in prime time. That’s just the reality. You can watch whatever you want via NBC online. Grab an MDMI cord and hook that puppy up to the TV. Figure Skating will be done in a few days.

The fact that the USA had an opportunity to create an all college player hockey team and didn't is a real bummer. I'm not even excited to tune into the hockey games.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I'm always stoked about the Winter Olympics. I was out of work during the last two, so had time to watch everything. This year my viewing will be limited. My interests are bobsleigh, alpine skiing, XC and biathlon, long track speedskating and women's hockey. Too old to get into the X-Games stuff. Attended the speedskating trials here in Milwaukee.

Watched the third period of the USA-OAR men's hockey. It was watching men vs boys.

Did anyone watch women's Super-G Friday evening? Dan Hicks and Bode Miller saying the contenders were in the first nineteen skiers, so they sign off and I went to bed thinking the Austrian won, only to wake up this morning to find out some unknown in Bib #26 won. Anyone know if NBC went back to coverage (after 10:30) to break the news?

Lindsey Jacobellis failed to win gold again. Didn't know she was still active until I saw the Toyota commercial Wednesday. I thought it was Vancouver she crashed while hot-dogging, but it's been twelve years already!

Yes, they broke away from the figure skating to break that the unknown snowboarder won in the Super G skiing. It was pretty cool. They obviously didn't show it live, but they did show the whole run, and the disbelief on her face at the bottom when her time popped up on the board. Really neat moment.

Watching the women's downhill live last night was pretty cool, especially the extended shot of Vonn in the starthouse and broadcasting 25 of the 39 starters. It's nice NBC is showing more live coverage this Olympics.

Tonight is *the* hockey game everyone is looking forward to. I believe seven ex-Badgers on the ice. The only drawback is we're getting Marv Albert as opposed to Mike Emrick.

And as always, bobsled's John Morgan is my favorite analyst in all televised sports.

On edit: Kenny, not Marv. Although they do sound alike.

Curlers match up against Canada tomorrow to get to the gold medal game. 5am for those that care.

That was absolutely filthy! Wish I would have been up for that win last night.

Totally worth staying up until 1:30 this morning, even though I start work at 6:30.

I thought they were outplayed from the first intermission until the tying goal, then they woke up and played like winners.

Team usa 3 team canada 0

Woman's hockey for gold, men's curling to go to the gold medal game, and woman's team pursuit for bronze. Suck it canada!

Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."
