This absolutely falls into the category of "it's business." There are certain things the Brewers have done in the last decade or so that I would consider to be ethical gray areas -- demoting Davies after a start to gain a bench spot, demoting Hardy just long enough to gain an extra service year.

 

But releasing Vogt in ST if we found a better 2nd catcher that we liked, is perfectly acceptable. Scooter almost certainly would have gotten the same treatment last spring if he wasn't claimed by the Reds. You don't mold your opening day 25 man roster based on an unwritten rule that doesn't even exist.
