If the news is that Milwaukee is sending Santana and Burnes as part of a package for Chris Archer... half of this board will be on some kind of watch..

Mike Ferrin of MLB Network said today the Rays are looking to shed payroll but wont be dealing Archer to achieve that, he said Odorizzi is more likely to move.

He has an in within someone in the org.

If we got Darvish I would be fine with Odorizzi. If not I don't really like the idea of it much.

If it’s Arrieta, puke. That will really put a damper on this off-season for me.

It would be surprising if Arrieta signed before Darvish. But if Darvish is just yanking our chain for leverage, I guess we’d only put up with that for so long.

I hope the next move is a trade of Santana (plus?) for a number 2-3 starter with a couple years of team control. Doesn’t have to be Archer. Because I also hope we keep both Woodruff and Burnes.

I was beginning to think the other owners called DS and told him to stop making moves.

Looking forward to some news from HH.

First time poster, and have really enjoyed reading all of your excellent insights over the last few weeks.

How do you plan on turning Santana into a number 2 or 3 starter without one of those two?

I'd rather give money to Arrieta then a pile of prospects for Archer

This for sure.

Not even close for me. I'm no Arietta fan, but I'd rather it cost us money than prospects, at least the prospects that have been thrown around on this board anyway.

I think Arrieta is the most likely..

I think this has always been the most likely scenario of "TOR" the Brewers would add. While I don't love the idea of 5 years $125 million, I do love the work ethic he brings. Intensity like that tends to rub off on younger more impressionable people.

Also on the plus side the significant upgrade we're in the process of doing in the OF will help pitching out as well. See: Byron Buxton added to Twins OF to a higher degree.

If it’s Arrieta, there’s a good chance we just spent money on a pitcher that won’t pitch like a TOR type pitcher nor even out produced a guy like Chase Anderson. Hard, hard pass.

MLB Tonight just threw out a hypothetical on the marketing aspect of a Jake Arrieta signing with the Brewers. Coincidence?

Was thinking the same thing. They were in the middle of talking about it when I flipped over. I thought for a moment that they were actually talking about a signing and not a hypothetical.

Well it is morning time in Japan. It would make sense that the Yu news would be occurring at 9pm Central time...or noon Japan time.

It's important to establish that HH is sharing news from his source at 9 - not that news is going down AT 9. So if his news is "the Brewers are confident they will get Darvish" that doesn't mean anything is imminent, he's just sharing thoughts from the inside. No actual signings/trades will occur at 9.

Fun facts. on Aug 1, 2016, there was a record 953 people on the site.

A minute ago, there was 397. Within 10 seconds, it was up to 409.

Go Brewers!
