OMG my 23 year no barf streak would come to an end if we would have to give that for Bauer. Please stop DS

The value placed on cost-controlled proven pitching is very, very high. It is what it is.

Not guys that do this the last 3 years. No chance we're giving up 3 guys including Santana for him. Maybe Aguilar and Broxton. Good grief.

4.19 ERA

4.26 ERA

4.55 ERA

His peripherals are ticking up though, looks to me like a late bloomer. K's through the roof last year, ERA+ steadily increasing, FIP declining, BB's down. This seems like a Stearns buy low to me considering he has had the past pedigree of ace stuff.

I think Bauer has significant upside. He's a guy that is probably too smart for his own good - he thinks too much on the mound. I've read about him constantly tinkering with pitches, delivery, etc. I believe i saw an article (can't find it at the moment) from this off-season that detailed his efforts to add a new pitch mid-season, and that he's working on it over the winter. I think he's a guy that could flourish with the right pitching coach. I think Johnson is good, maybe he's the guy?

Brewer World at it again on Twitter. At least HH lays it out. The tidbits have made it fun this week for sure.

It appears that he is either hinting at Trevor Bauer or the fact that something should happen in the next 24 hours. Curious what Trevor Bauer would cost, though he doesn't really move the needle as much as Archer would. Also probably would not cost Burnes though.

What does 24 have to do with Trevor Bauer?

That said, BREWERWORLD IS A PARODY ACCOUNT. OMG.

This guy will look really dumb now if we either don't make a move in the next 24 hours(which I don't think we will) or if we don't sign Trevor Bauer...

I hope you are talking about the twitter account lol because the picture was a bit of sarcasm...

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

BrewerWorld? The whole point of that twitter account is to look dumb. To look at what writers are writing about the Brewers and then using his "sources" to confirm what the reporters are saying.

Boomer, I would quote your comment, but the previous quote is much too long to include it.

Every team's fan base will have many that are like that. Personally, my opinion of prospects doesn't change except to figure in ballpark factors. I still think Brinson has the ability to be prime-years Andrew McCutcheon without the Gold Glove.

I'm not convinced Burnes is a sure thing, but he should be untouchable simply because a team like the Brewers has problems signing top free agent starters and retaining quality starting pitchers they develop themselves. If Nelson comes back strong and has another two good seasons after does anyone really think we can afford to resign him when if he's a free agent? And Burnes has shown far too much to trade him away for anyone at this point.

I definitely side with building the farm vs the sugar rush of free agency but different strokes for different folks I guess.

I found myself justifying any possible trade with the Bucks for example. Somehow I could talk myself into Kidd taking MCW instead of a lottery pick because he is supposed to know what he is doing, especially with point guards.

As for the Yelich trade, the Cain deal, and the supposed Archer deal, no I don't think they are smart and I don't think those guys, while definitely good, are headliners for a legitimate WS team. But at the end of the day I will cheer them on because they are Brewers and we will be a good team the next few years and we can worry about 2020 in 2020.

Bauer has a spectacular arm. I've seen him pitch many times and he has that easy heat thing going. The ball just jumps of his wrist.

Still he is supposed to be a head case and his production is more in line with a decent guy to have on the back end and is in no way a Santana plus prospects kind of trade target.

Amen! I think a bunch of us need to remember this when we see an opinion we don't agree with. Everyone here is a Brewer fan. It just happens that we have different ideas on how the team will achieve success.

I mentioned a couple days or 3 back that Bauer may be the trade holding up since he's in arb hearing and his future payroll obligation would change if he won vs lost. A win of 1mil being 2.2mil more next year and 4.4 mil more the following vs if he lost. And the prospect cost depending on such.

Agreed. I honestly am against a majority of the major decisions made this offseason. I would not have gone this direction. But, it happened and I'm going to choose to embrace it rather than moan about the prospect losses. The fact is, we're going to have a good team this year and it's going to be fun to watch.

A "buy low" of Aguilar/Bickford for Bauer?

I see some Marlins had decisions today. Any idea when the Tribe has theirs.

That is a major haul, we trade all those pieces, where are we in a couple years with no arms on the farm ready to step in.

You continue to develop the pitchers you have. Woodruff and Bubba Derby are still around. Ortiz is still very highly thought of. In a couple years, pitchers like Diplan, Supak, Ponce, Pennington, Webb, Zach Brown, Drake Owenby, Jon Perrin and Herrera should be in the upper levels. Not to mention the highly talented guys who have fallen because of injury or other reasons, such as Nate Kirby, Phil Bickford, Taylor Williams, Kodi Medeiros and Adrian Houser. Then there's the young kids like Caden Lemons, Brendan Murphy, Bowden Francis, Jayson Rose, Alec Bettinger and Max Lazar.

Basically, you need to hit on 3-4 of those guys to continue to have strong pitching prospects at the minor league level. The pitching cupboard is FAR from bare.

. I wonder if they find 3-4 to get to the level of top prospect like Burnes
