Anyone worried about the age of our OF in two years if we trade Brinson Harrison Phillips and Santana? It will Yelich and two rotting corpses.

Not really. I think Cain will be good enough to start for at least 3 years. Who knows with Braun. Either way, I think there could be ways of getting another OF through FA or trade and moving one of those guys into a 4th OF role. Also you never know what you'll get out of a prospect. Someone like Ray or Lutz could get it together and become a MLB player.

I would be skeptical we can afford to sign Darvish. I heard rumblings Darvish still might garner upwards of $150mil...we won't be in the running at that.

I don't know. The owner has already been willing to dole out for the right player at the right time. That player at this time would certainly fill that bill.

Well he just tossed $80mil at Lorenzo Cain which if my memory is correct is the largest FA deal in Brewers history. Of course they could have an absolutely insane offseason including a Santana trade plus a big time starting pitcher addition through free agency...but even I would have a hard time pulling that off in a video game. That would just be unreal.

They're all fishing. Something is going down soon.

#Indians and #Brewers could have an intriguing trade fit, as a number of followers have mentioned. Cleveland has an all-LHH starting outfield. Santana is a RHH with 30 HR last year. Indians have rotation depth.

Here comes Salazar!!

Anderson

Salazar

Davies

Chacin

Woodruff

Nelson coming back sooner then excepted

OMG yes!

If they stop here, then I have a decidedly different opinion of the nights evens.

Well I can promise you that is not going to happen. Something else has to fall. Santana is not going to be some 4th OFer/1B. They will have to either trade Braun(lol), Santana(bet my life on it), or Thames.

Don't forget Phillips as 5th OFer and Broxton...waived? Does he have options?

Gotta be careful with that. They have to have a competent 4th OF to deal with all the nagy injuries Braun has.

Broxton is realistically the #4 OFer right now and I would highly prefer a quality 4th OFer...so I hope he stays. Keon Broxton has such low trade value he isn't much of a concern. He will go eventually before opening day.

Unless he is dead set on going to the Cubs, our recent activity has to at the very least raise his eyebrows a bit...

If we can move Santana for another intriguing piece, might that tip the scales in our direction for Darvish? I just don't think he will truly consider the small market Brewers when some of the big market money and off field money making opportunities that come with the big market teams is out there for him.

We can dream.

I do agree with this. I think Arietta is more likely.

Arieta scares the bejesus out of me. I'd much rather gamble on Yu than that ex Cub.

In thinking about it more I don't like the idea of both Arietta and Cain on extended contracts. Problem is, I don't think just Archer/Salazar is enough.

If Archer's coming here, we're going to lose some young pitching...

For sure, but archer anderson davies are 4 year control. Nelson is 3. Chacin is 2. We got woodruff burnes and ortiz who should all hit the mlb before Nelson leaves.

We could very well be trying to open a 4 year window. Weak at 2b... hoping huira can get here by year 3.

Why didn't they start with Santana? Other teams know the Brewers need to unload him now. Not doubting Stearns, but there's got to be a reason why?

My assumption is that they have a deal for Santana lined up, but were only going to execute it if they could land Yelich. I think the Santana move happens fairly quickly now. I imagine Broxton will be dealt as well. If not, maybe Phillips is packaged with Santana for a high-end starter. In any case, I think the next move has already been made. Just needs to be executed.

We dont need to unload him. Phillips has options. Braun could move to 1b. Broxton or aguliar are the pieces that don't fit currently.

You are giving their leverage way too much credit.

Santana had to be expendable, which he wasn't until both Cain and Yelich were under control.

The more that's leaking out makes me think they have multiple santana deals lined up and are going down the list of what they want most. Archer is domino A but there's likely a B (salazar) and maybe a C.
