What's Next

I cannot remember an off season I've been more excited and a lot has to do with the stove going from ice cold to in flames. I was not expecting the Brewers to go all in, its not what I would have done or wished they would have done, but I love it.

So, count this as the 10th person to say thanks for increasing interest and helping make this an awesome off season.

Go Brewers.

So people still listen to what this HighHeat dude says? LOL.

Look, anyone can speculate like he does....and let me be clear....that's all he does. Otherwise what happened to the AL team we were going to make a trade with like 2 weeks ago? Exactly

I don't expect us to trade for Archer, but Odorizzi seems like he could be dealt for. I also do not think he would cost us even half what Archer would. I think we would have made a trade by now, but I think the Brewers are waiting to see whether we get Darvish or not. If we get Darvish somehow, I think that's the last big move of the offseason, but if we sign lets say Cobb, I can see the trade happening as well

You do realize the AL team was the Yelich trade right? He can't give us every single correct detail pretty obvious why he can't. cough his source cough. Dude has been pretty spot on.

Pretty sure the AL team was a potential deal for Santana ... which could very well still happen.

I don't know why but I have a feeling there might be a flurry of activity this weekend, starting tomorrow.

I'm on this train too. This whole thing feels like it's about to burst. One major FA signing and it feels like stuff is going to happen left and right.

I mean, it has to, right? These big name guys want to be on a team before spring training starts. Plus, don't put it past egomaniacal GMs and agents to want to take some of the spotlight off of the NFL during Super Bowl weekend.

No it wasn't HH admitted in one of the threads it was the Yelich trade, that was the first domino to fall the first domino was a supposed "AL team" that is besides the point though I welcome HH, more beneficial than any beat writer the last week +

Oh that's right ... I think he alluded to that deal falling through. Speculated that it was with the Yankees for Ellsbury, with the Brewers grabbing additional high-end prospects and salary relief. If that was the deal, I think I'm glad it didn't happen. I kind of like seeing that Ellsbury contract hanging around their fanbase's neck like an albatross ;)

Look I don't believe the guy either and I agree with your questions about him, but I am not going to tell people what to believe or not believe. I am just going to to let him do his thing and let others do there thing. Maybe some day he actually gets enough proof to make me a believer, but for now I think I will not wrap my life around HighHeat rumors.

If people are going crazy about something HighHeat said that I don't believe I will just say nothing if I am not going to provide anything useful. At the end of the day you can't really prove he is a liar or truthful. If you don't agree with him just ignore it. We don't need the negative attitude.

Let's go over a few things here. First off, were not Cub fans. That means we don't treat other's like dung and rip on our own fans. We don't call out our player's or coaches when their losing but act like were the greatest fans when we are winning. That's not what Brewer fans are, that's Cubs fans. We have a player who did roids and got caught. He apologized and like civilized fans we forgive, forget and embrace him. In return, he wanted nothing else but to stay in Milwaukee, even when he knew we were in rebuild mode. Because he knew the fans here are special and don't sell out like fans from other teams. Were not dirtbags. Dirtbags are Cubs fans. Listen to 670 the score if you don't believe me. Brewer fans are some of the most respected fans in all of Baseball.

AND I told you:

1. Lucroy was going to Cleveland way before it broke. Done. (And that was way before self proclaimed Brewer's world reported it)

2. I reported that a Brewer's trade with an American League team was in the works, then nixed. Crasnick comes on a day later and reports the same. Done

3. I reported Yelich had 95% chance he was coming here 2 days prior to trade. Done.

4. I reported Brewer's had offer to Darvish and Cub's trumped it. 1 days later reported on MLB trade rumors. Done.

5. I reported that Darvish is sitting on his hands playing games with teams. Done

6. I reported Brewer's in active talks in getting Archer. 2 days later Rosenthal reports the same. Done.

7. I reported Brewer's looking to pick up not 1 but.......2 high end starter's a few days ago. Jon Heyman reports the same on twitter today. Done.

Anyone give me anymore grief, I pull the plug.

He came and gave an exact explanation to what he said and why it didn't come to reality. Can't say he avoided it and all have to realize he's just relaying information and none of this stuff is exact with so many variables that can change things and he's hearing the MKE side of it.

Just appreciate someone is willing to give some tidbits that he can and take for what you will. He's given no reason to think he's grandstanding or all out BSing for attention. No need to be a jerk to the person.

Solid post. You laid it all out there. You've also never demanded that anyone believe you. I certainly understand being skeptical, especially when things don't happen as quickly as we want them to. But you are right ... Brewer fans are civil, and we all want the same thing - for the team to have success at the big league level (well, except the "scorched earth" guys around here). I guess the way I look at it, no one is making anyone read or believe your posts. I think your track record is speaking for itself this offseason, though. Please, if you have any new info from the meeting today, a few tidbits would be fun.

Unless HH19 is able to shed a little more light on this one (if he can't, that's just the way it is) I am thinking the deal wasn't with the Yankees, but with Cleveland & regarding Kipnis (with the $30+MM he is owed over the next few seasons) along with a Salazar or Mejia.

At this point (as I have posted before) I really think Mejia is going to end up in Miami. Now the question is will it be to help JT Realmuto get to Washington or get JT Realmuto to Milwaukee. That will be interesting to watch...

Not sure why you'd think a mod would delete this.

I personally get the feeling that, even though an Archer trade seems unlikely on its own, it becomes a possibility with the addition of a TOR FA pitcher... for me, it becomes a lot easier to part with the Corbin Burnes' of the world if it means we have, at minimum, 4 years of Darvish/Cobb/Arrieta (in that order) and Archer

for what it's worth, I joined BF recently because a friend told me about HH's posts and that I gotta read this guy... Whether or not you believe what he says is up to you, but his posts are interesting, they spark conversation, and they're well written. Why hate on that?

I was happy to find that it's not just HH that makes this site solid...

Brewer's are in "very small talk" with a NL team not named the Diamondbacks in regards to acquiring a pitcher. Nothing imminent.

Brewer's are "DEAD SET" on acquiring a higher end pitcher to add to the rotation by opening day. (Sort of Obvious)

Brewer's want to have 2 higher end pitchers if circumstances allow. 1 expensive and 1 on the cheap. The cheap would have to come via trade for obvious reasons. If not by opening day, the second could come at the trade deadline.

Gallardo's plan is to be in the bullpen and make spot starts as needed.

My guess is the "small talks NL team" is/was the Mets

I think the higher end pitcher still will be either Darvish or Arrieta

My question if the brewers don't get Yu do they make another offer to the next FA pitcher ? And will they look to make a trade ? Any thought HH

Brewer's have a decisive plan in place. What people don't realize is the Brewer's have "partial acceptance" trades in a holding pen. (Every team has this) They can act on them whenever they want. In most cases the offer is not ideal. If it was they would act obviously. They can revisit them at any time with the opposing team. However, the trade offer from the opposing team may change literally within an hour. It's not fantasy baseball were you offer a trade and you just wait for it to get accepted. For instance Brewer's offer goes into holding pen. Opposing team may accept Brewer's offer. Offer DOES NOT GO THRU UNTIL BREWER APPROVE FROM THE HOLDING PEN. This allows an offer to be sent but allows the team to work on something else with the same player in another offer. As you can see this allows a team to take different directions at one time with the one player. The trouble is, the trade can take different directions. A trade maybe accepted, but when the offering team is weighing it's best options, a day later the accepting team can differ because they have a presumed better offer with a different team or just changed their mind. The reasons trades are so fluid and dynamic. 1 player can be involved in many different offers at 1 time.

Yu is the holdup in regards to pitching acquisitions in general for all MLB teams. When Yu goes, chips will start to fall, but not that fast and here's why. No one is going to spend their $ on Cobb for example when it could of went to Yu.But you don't know that until YU is off the board. Also, the longer the lesser FA pitchers (Cobb, Lynn, etc) hang out to dry, the more their price goes down. GM's know this. So there maybe a collusion of philosophy amongst GM's even though there is not a true collusion of GM's with verbal or written agreement of each other like some want to believe.
