Yelich to the Brewers in exchange for Brinson, Isan Diaz, M. Harrison and Yamamoto

MVP2110
Yeah, it's pretty apparent that his stuff is not that of a frontline starter...he could definitely become a mlb rotation piece and have a good career if he improves his command, but he needs to live on the corners to do so.

Basically his upside is Zach Davies - while his downside is that he's a flash in the pan who flamed out in mlb before ever settling in as a starter at this level.

His upside is what we hoped Zach Davies could be...

I feel like there is a fairly decent shot that Diaz becomes the only guy I wish we wouldn't have let get away. Brinson seems like a AAAA type guys. Yamamoto has come back to earth and his stuff just doesn't seem good enough to be a guy I really miss. Harrison strikes out a third of his at bats in AAA so I am not expecting a ton there. He could figure it out though

Diaz & Hiura are both 2B only guys.

I'll take Keston, though there is a non zero chance Isan ends up the better player in the long run.

Diaz looks so much like Javy Baez it's shocking. Even at the plate you can tell he has watched him quite a bit. Happy for him.I saw him with the Rattlers and he was one of the best they have had there. He's going to be good.

I always thought Diaz looked like a carbon copy of Robinson Cano at the plate.

Next week we should get to see all these kids but Harrison. Harrison was injured late in the AAA season so he didn't get a call up. I guess maybe he still could. Diaz has really struggled in the majors. Yamamoto has scuffed since his hot start. Brinson is putting up similar number to what he did in the past. It will be fun to see all of them out there though

His dad was being interviewed by the Marlins broadcast when he hit that homer.

Looks like he hasn't had too many hits since that 1st one.

I'm already convinced that yelich has already outperformed what these 4 guys will do in their entire mlb careers, and the brewers still have yelich a couple more seasons.

This trade was highway robbery

I'd say that whatever Diaz, Harrison, Brinson and Yamamoto end up doing, the trade will have been worth it. Brewers wanted an impact player immediately, and have gotten 2 MVP calibre seasons out of Yelich, with 3 years of team control left. If either of those four go on to be superstars I'll just be happy for them; both teams got what they wanted, and they're some fun players to watch too so everybody wins.

Realistically, it won't be for several more years, before we know who won this trade.

So far, I'd have to say, I'm liking our end of the deal with Yelich.

I feel he's put up the 2 best offensive seasons in Milwaukee Brewers history since the trade.

However, we did give up several blue chip prospect,s and I think Yamamoto was more than just a throw in.

Time will tell.

We acquired 5 cost controlled years of a league MVP player who is exceeding the MVP year in his second year and you're saying "time will tell"?!

Blue chip prospect or not, Brinson is bordering on bust label. It's not too late for Diaz but he's been overmatched so far. Yamamoto is who he is. He could be a #5 at this level but we didn't give up Max Scherzer there. Harrison still could be something, but do you see a Yelich type HOF caliber career like Yelich in the cards for him?

I hope all these Marlins go on to have successful careers, but come on. Time has already told.

I know we say we overvalue our prospects and we undervalue other team's prospects and etc, etc, etc..... I'm honestly curious for those that still think we gave up too much or are still on the fence what would constitute a "fair" trade or a win for the Brewers when they very literally have the best player in the NL (aside from maybe Bellinger) and there isn't a guy the Marlins got who is going to be an MVP caliber player. There just isn't.

At SOME point we don't have to say "Well, we'll wait 8 years from now to see if Monte Harrison has had multiple 8 WAR seasons" to say that the trade was worth it NOW for a team that was going for it NOW. Monte Harrison wasn't going to put up a 1.000 OPS last year or this year, and neither was Lewis Brinson. You're giving up future potential for a sure thing now, when you're in your window. If Yelich produces 40 WAR over 5 years and these 4 guys produce 60- 70 WAR (I"m going with a hard "no" on that, for what it's worth) for the Marlins, it's still a win for the Brewers, because there was no way any of those guys were going to help get the Brewers to the NLCS in 2018.

I admit that I was not the happiest with the trade. I didn't care about Brinson, just seemed like a big bust candidate to me at the time. Diaz and Harrison played in Appleton, I grew fond of them, and losing the two of them at the time really bothered me.

Yamamoto was never a throw in type player in my eyes, he also played in Appleton, so I got to see him pitch several times. I thought he would probably top out as a #3, and hated to see him go as well.

In retrospect, it was a more than great trade for us, no matter what happens with those 4 guys we traded away for Yelich. I don't see how anyone can possibly see otherwise...

Yelich was an actual MVP, not a candidate, but an actual MVP and is putting up the same type of numbers for a second year in a row.

We won the trade, simple as hat.

There are probably fans who are upset that Brantley turned out great, even though Sabathia almost single-handedly brought us our first playoff appearance in forever.

"Winning" a trade is overrated. If the trade accomplished what the team wanted it to accomplish, that's a win. The Brewers have already gotten more than what they hoped for with Yelich and at the exact time they needed it. If all four prospects pan out for the Marlins, that's great for them, as they needed players who could grow and help them down the road.

The bolded is my point. That's exactly what I was saying, in a long and rambling way. We got a heavy hitting middle of the order guy (actually a 2 spot hitter) MVP player for four top prospects who weren't going to contribute right now. THat's a win, *no matter what* those four guys do for the Marlins.

The Brewers can't acquire guys like Yelich in FA. Getting them this way (or drafting/developing) is the only way. When you can get a guy like Yelich in this manner, you do it! Prospects aren't just guys to develop, they are also assets to be used. Nature of the business.

No offense but those who are suggesting we got robbed in this deal make me laugh. We ended up with arguably the best player in the NL and possibly the second/third best player in the entire league. smh

I am pretty sure no one is suggesting that unless you are looking at the first couple of pages when the trade first happened in 2018.

Well nobody has specifically said we got robbed, there are still people saying that this may or may not be a win for the Brewers, and there are people saying that we shouldn't have included Jordan Yamamoto. We have a league MVP player who has put up back-to-back 1000 Ops seasons. At this point people are grousing about the trade still just to do it.
