Klement's out as Racing Sausages' sponsor; Johnsonville in (see reply #24)

Klements not feeling cherished at the moment.

I hope that the new sausage vendor is awesome. I thought it odd that Usingers was a tv and radio sponsor, but Klements sponsored the Sausages and made the in-house product.

If the new sponsor is Johnsonville, maybe they'll have a Charlie Murphy mascot chasing the sausages?

One can only hope.

WHAT?!?!? This is preposterous and quite sad.

I mean, are the sausages still going to "race to taste" or not?

I still think it'd be hilarious to have the finish line of the race be a big aluminum foil shaped beer-bath and the first sausage to jump in wins! I guess the laundry bill for cleaning the costumes every time would be humongous, but I'd laugh.

At least the sausages are staying, but will just have a new logo on their sleeves. No big deal, to me, at least.

About time!!! Klement's brats were horrible. I heard out of staters that tried a brat at the ballpark always say "These are nothing special" or "this brat thing is terrible". It was actually embarrassing being a Wisconsinite.

Johnsonville brats are king! And should be the new sponsor.

And in no way am I affiliated with Johnsonville.

Add me to the list of people who are underwhelmed by Klements. I'm all Johnsonville and hope they get the sponsorship. I've probably had Usinger, but not for awhile. I'll need to try them again now that I'm in WI again.

I could be totally wrong, but wasn't Johnsonville the sponsor way back in the day and also what they maybe served at the stadium?

I didn't realize that Chi stadiums did real brats. That's what we should be doing!

Pretty negative, guys. That's out of bounds for a non-baseball topic. Better lock down the thread.

If you can't see the difference between this thread and that one then I don't know what to tell ya.

They will have to change names and costumes of the racing sausages now to whatever the new sponsor makes, right? Not that I really give a crap but those names are pretty much synonymous with Brewers baseball.

Those names are not getting changed, no way.

I don't think Klement's owns the sausage racing names. They just slapped their name on them for a sponsor. Pretty sure the sausage race itself is something the Brewers own.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

If the new sponsor is indeed Johnsonville, there is a golden opportunity to have the first female racing sausage costume. Of course I'm talking about none other than the ever jubilant Mrs. Patty Griller. I'd bet she would spur a jump in sales of those delicious brat patties, too.

Possibly unpopular opinion:

They all stink. If you want real sausage, the way the pioneers of sausage intended them to be, you need to go to Bavarian Sausage Inc. in Fitchburg. The large brands sold in stores are OK - of course, I eat them every year. But after going to Germany/Switzerland and being blown away by how much better they were, I had to have the real thing at home. We are lucky to have a shop like BSI so close to home.

According to a subscriber-only article on the Milwaukee Business Journal site, both Usinger’s and Old Wisconsin said they aren’t the new sponsor, so the article claims Johnsonville is the front runner.

Interestingly they claim that the racing sausages are actually owned by MLB, not the Brewers, and say that since Johnsonville is more of a national company that they could roll out a national campaign at other stadiums using the sausages.

I'm not a huge fan of the store bought brats like Johnsonville's and Klements and so forth. Nothing wrong with them - just nothing great. I prefer to go a good meat market. They can be hit or miss - but they are usually my favorite. I'll still get brats and polish sausages from Ken's in Monona. And Fraboni's - just around the corner - makes awesome Italian sausages.

I posted that yesterday and people don't believe me on here!
