Significant Acquisition Coming? Krasnick says "buzz" Brewers close to a trade

Rosenthal just tweeted out the Yankees are going hard after Shaw.

I love Shaw.

Love him.

LOVE HIM.

But right now might be the peak of his trade value ... someone discuss whether that is accurate and if he should be dealt if these rumors are accurate. Is he a part of our contending plans in '19 and '20?

Maybe the fake Rosenthal knows something the real Rosenthal doesn’t.

Yeah, I think this is my cue to go to bed. Nothing is going to happen at this stage on a Sunday night, outside of fake twitter accounts having us all losing our minds!

If the HighHeat rumor of deals happening if "A" happens, and an Ellsbury rumor who has no trade rights, wouldnt you suspect "A" to be Ellsbury accepting a trade to Milwaukee? And then the 3 team move idea? Well Ellsbury is a Brewer, Santana is movable for the Tribe return, etc., etc.

Or what if "A" is all on BA's top 100 coming out and so and so being: in it or near the top of it? Haha, how great is tomorrow going to be with a Trade and a new top 100 to discuss!

For the Indians, to get Machado, I think just about any combination of minor leaguers going to Baltimore is at least possible, but I'd be shocked if they gave up McKenzie. I have no idea what the Indians think of Domingo Santana, but I'd say the same thing, I would assume McKenzie simply cannot be had.

Sticking with Cleveland, I'm not excited about Jason Kipnis at this point - plenty of talent, but the durability concerns would lead me to some other solution.

Moving on to any "Jacoby Ellsbury lands in Milwaukee" scenario ..... that would just tick me off. NO. I don't want Ellsbury in Milwaukee, and if the Yankees find a way to be rid of his contract, they may just sign Darvish, thus beating the Brewers on that front.

The Brewers have been talking to the White Sox? OK, but I don't see it, unless they'd give up one of the talented young players they've recently added, where's the match at SP or 2B? Please don't tell me the Brewers are looking at James Shields ....

In sticking with various speculation in this thread ..... if the Brewers are on the verge of a trade, and, if the Brewers are dealing with an AL team, and, if the target is SP or 2B (This is news? Stearns said he was after both, what, two months ago?) - if all of those things are true, and if Tampa is quiet right now, I'll stick with the most rumored names of the offseason ..... Danny Duffy, Michael Fulmer, or perhaps Danny Salazar.

If you want a wrinkle, I'll say Thames and a kid to the White Sox for Jose Abreu

Man I’m super excited to find out what is going on. Fingers crossed.

Same here. Work got canceled today due to the rain so I've got a pot of coffee (halfway gone) and have been hitting refresh on the reg.

Happy Brewers trade speculation day everyone! If it is indeed going to be a big trade we all might want to take a moment to hug that Brewers prospect list one last time.

The thought of losing certain players that I have grown fond of over the years causes me anxiety, I will admit to that.

To be completely honest, while I like that we added an arm like Ortiz, there wasn't a single player in that texas package I wanted more than mejia. The thought of the potential in mejia huira is offensely siesmic. Having those bats at 2b and C makes the rest of the lineup almost easy to fill out. Mejia Huira Diaz all pan out and thats a championship caliber offense. Corners and OF be damned.

The ellsbury deal talk is incredibly interesting to me. Thats a lot of cash coming our way and the yankees system is loaded due to big money int buying and the sell off year. Shaw for ellsbury and how many top 100 prospects...3? A pitcher and 2 bats. Pushes back the window without a doubt but would likely put the farm at #1 overall. If they push back the window and get a haul for shaw and eating ellsbury, and get mejia somehow from cle. Well this year would sting for sure but 2020 could make weeks fielder hart look like childs play. Wouldn't be a talent wave, would be a tsunami.

I love many of our prospects too, but this exact reason is why they have built the farm system up. I think they realize the team is a contender, and an upper-end piece or two away from pennant contention. Stearns has had so few dubious moves in his time as GM. He could very well be on the cusp of being mentioned in the same breath as the Theos of the world.

Hopefully whatever prospects they include in the mix that never pans out and we keep the ones that do. Happy Brewers trade speculation day everyone!

Or Shaw really breaks out with one more season under his belt and if his child gets past health concerns.

So I'm wondering why people think all in is coming. The ellsbury rumors are the opposite of all in. I get that a Darvish offer is a big now move but its also a move that could be traded to the team that loses the sweepstakes next year. Markets gripping so you buy in now, and sell when the buyers miss their mark and have money to blow.

Basically az grienke, mke darvish... but we'd be buying low at 125 or 150 over 5 or 6. Cuz the market is tight.

Something is just destined to happen this week. Attanasio almost seems to love for these things to happen before Fan Fest.

And I can most certainly promise we aren’t trying to invest $100mil+ in Darvish to trade him next year. That is just an idiotic gamble that probably has a 75% chance of not working out. You would burn the most valuable year of control and assuming he plays well you would need the perfect market to trade that big of a contract. That kind of thought process is not happening at MP right now.

The Ellsbury rumors? That's Yankee fans misinterpreting the Crasnick story about Brewers on verge of a trade involving outfielders. Yankee fans assuming Brewers are seeking outfielders, when it's the other way around. Yankees fans desperate to unload Ellsbury. Can't believe he's of any value to the Brewers.

As for Shaw, well if you're sure you can sign Moustakas to replace him, sure then see if you can get a boatload for him. Otherwise, no way. He's indispensable in this lineup.
