Signings & Weeks taking BP Saturday

Weeks to be at Miller Park to take BP on Saturday & address the media:

Not sure if this will happen when the team takes BP, but it sure would be a nice treat if he did when our good friend MB is in town!!!

 

As for assignments, Corporan & Fermaint are assigned to Arizona with Slack, McKenna, Deevers & Lewis all being assigned to Helena.

That article mentioned two free agent signings of non-drafted players:

 

The Brewers also signed a pair of non-drafted free agents. Right-handers Forrest Martin and Brian Rauch were assigned to the Arizona League.

 

Guessing that Martin was a 5th year senior; looks like the Mariners signed him in May, but something must have happened there. Here's that press release:

Southwestern's Martin signs with Mariners

Senior pitcher Forrest Martin of Southwestern University signed a contract with the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday, May 8. He reports to Phoenix, Ariz., immediately after graduation for extended Spring Training. After the draft in June, the team will assign rookies to their lower level teams.

 

Martin was a three-time All-SCAC performer, including his freshmen year when he was named the league's Pitcher-of-the-Year, and his sophomore season when he was named a DIII All-American. The last Pirate to sign a professional contract was Matt Gelotti '00.

 

Matt Gelotti was a Brewer signing (no longer in the system). Injured High Desert LHP Pete Smart was an example of another 5th year senior sign.
