How about JJ Hardy at second base?

Recommended Posts

Would it be an upgrade over Walker or Villar circa 2016? No. but would it be an upgrade over career-average Sogard or the 2017 version of Villar? Yes.

Hardy's last four seasons (31-34): Average

Games: 111

BA: .243

OBP: .282

SLG: .353

OPS: .635

OPS+: 73

Hardy just isn't good anymore.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

He's not an upgrade over a Sogard/Perez platoon who between them started half the games in a September playoff chase.
